Tony P thinks that in Car Model magazine there is a Roy Wong chassis. If anybody knows what issue or has the issue and can post the photos I would appreciate it. Hopefully it's an anglewinder or sidewinder.

Thanks, guys,
Bruce Schwartz

Bruce,

That rings a bell and I'll keep looking through my magazines. I thought it was Model Car & Science, because they did more coverage of NAMRA, but didn't see anything ca 1968 - I'll keep looking! And don't forget to bump this up to the top now and then so I don't forget.

I have a magazine index, but it doesn't go into quite this much detail . . .

Was that the race where Cressi nerfed him onto the floor and outa the race?

I think that there are more than the one, at least a F1 and a sports car in at least two different issues. Roy Wong has vanished since the late 1960s. Only a few surviving artifacts from his days at NAMRA and MINRA are known to exist.

Hi Bruce,

I have the articles photocopied and placed in a NAMRA folder. I'll use that to find the dates of the articles. I can scan the originals and post them here this weekend, if no one does it before then. As Philippe said there is a inline F1and an anglewinder sport car. Which one would you like? :)

Hi Rick.

I appreciate it, thanks. I'd appreciate anything Roy did but mainly anglewinders. Since he was a dear friend anything that brings back memories would be appreciated.

This is from the July 1968 issue of Model Car Science which also has the first pro anglewinder race. The caption says, "Roy Wong's tilt-top Mirage chassis. It works!"

This is really neat. I hung out and raced with Charlie Cressi's sons. Charlie Junior and Doug. at the kart races, in the '80s.

I did not know he had been a slot racer, too...

I guess to not be tempted to race anymore. I heard that was the way Charlie was. When he was into fish and decided slots where cool all the tanks fish etc where just thrown away...

I am a bit late to this party but I recently re-discovered  a beautiful Eagle indy car built by our own dc-65x, beautiful work  Rick. Love this car . Had to share it in celebration of master builders like Roy and Rick. Got to love those open wheel cars.
