Finished December 2010:

post-91-0-16749500-1292881569.jpg

Here's how it all started:

JK hypoid F1 motor bracket. Tube is 1.46" wide. "Tony P notches" underside of tubes to allow solder to pool up over the Pro Track ball bearings. Wire bracing is .047" tinned to preclude rusting.
Clow Platform is .032" by .250", designed to hold up to about 4 grams of lead directly under the pinion. :scare:

DSC02194.JPG

Next step: Wire braces for the tubes (since they stick out there a mile). :wink3:

Pablo,

Can you post another photo of that motor bracket?

I have to assume that the bracket brace coming from the bottom is just like the bracket on the top in that it goes across the face of the bracket. Really not visible in the posted photo.

Thanks for doing this. It is greatly appreciated.

Sure. No secrets here :laugh2:
Just trying to make things perform as many functions as possible :D
The Clow Platform stiffens up the bracket and provides a spot for lead.
.047 wire is the biggest that will fit inside the bracket without hitting the gear.
Matter of fact, if using a "9" on a F7, it will be so close, some grinding of the wire will be needed on the gear side. With an "8" it's OK.

Is that when you fire up the mini-torch?

I'm liking what I'm seeing. Very nice workmanship.

Front axle/wheel assembly: I still believe in the simple 3/32 piano wire/Slick 7 keepers setup. :laugh2: Wheels are custom cut JK plastic medium hub chemically treated .780 wide by .762 OD.
Axle is tinned with Chicagoland acid flux and Radio Shack 63/37....it will never rust :)
Thanks to Bill from NH for the tip on using ATF :D

:laugh2: Flem, I build slow as a snail.
I build and race stamped steel cars, every bit as slow as retro :laugh2:

Tonight, I prepped the Pro Slot 4002B motor for this car. Only took 5 hours, Rob :laugh2:
Can bushing soldered in. (Good thing Greg Wells turned me on to "Soder-Wick".)

That's some pretty serious front bite.

Hey, wait, this is MY thread :laugh2:
JAIRUS, lookie here, I figured since my JK Spec car chassis for the SANO is going to be a "Jairus", why not use a "Jairus" driver ? :)
I hope the simple paint job does your driver justice :D
