Ron Pearson calls Gaithersburg his favorite track. He likes it even more after scoring his second M-D Retro win of the year at the super fast Gerding King.
A light turnout of 5 drivers signed in for the event. After lane selections and a brief warmup, we were ready to go. Robert Rodgers and Ron Pearson got out front early with Gary Culy and Bill Dougherty in tow. Ron took command by heat 3, as Gary Culy lost a pinion gear which knocked him out of contention. By heat 5, Ron was in cruise control as he now led by 3 laps. At the finish it was Ron Pearson winning his second M-D Retro GT C Am. event of the year. Robert Rodgers was 2nd followed by Bill Dougherty in 3rd with a nice finish. Tom Smith and Gary Culy rounded out the field. Ron's car was a SKUNKWORKS, geared 9-29, equipped with Thunder rubber on the rears. Congrats to Ron, Robert, and Bill on their podium finish.
