I did a story here about the Soviet Ekranoplan a few years ago. They are of course NOT aircraft, but ground-effect vehicles "flying" about 20 feet off the surface of the ocean over a cushion of air compressed by the very presence and speed of the boat, that lifts from the water at about 50 MPH. The Soviets planned a US invasion using 400 of them because they would "fly" under the radar and the attack would have been a complete surprise. Each of the vessels could hold several tanks and up to 400 soldiers...
