I tried to get a car ready for the Kinglemen tomorrow at BP, because Craig build me a great car and I was hopping that I could get it together for tomorrow? :shok: :laugh2:
Its way funny I should know not to use Tamiya lacquer paint painting lexan, but I forgot! Oh well its soaking in 99% alcohol.

This would teach me a lesson, but I had fun with it. The bad part is that was my last Ti22 long version body. :laugh2:

I came to the conclusion that I need to hire some one to paint lexan bodies for me, don't got the skills. :laugh2:
Can't even paint a mono colored body in lexan that is freaky? :shok:
The way I trash them I sure need help!

Rick as soon as the weather gets better I will set up my paint booth. Have a bunch of things to paint.
My lexan that went bad looks like this. I never give up with paints, its good enough for a race on the flat track that
I forgot how to race. :laugh2:

Two more cars to set up for the Flat track and I'm done!

Nesta:

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I put together a step by step paint for you.

paint 01.jpg

I usually trim and mount a the clear body. This picture shows the window masked and the stripe. I only use 3M fineline tape such as 3M 6408

paint 02.jpg

I used 1/4" blue fineling next to the 1/16" and then just filled the rest in with normal 3M blue masking tape

paint 03.jpg

I usually like to paint from dark to light, but when doing candy I prefer to paint that as one of the final steps. In this case the main color is white. I painted the white first and then backed it up with silver to make it opaque.

paint 04.jpg

I pulled off the masking tape and 1/4" blue fineline being carefull not to remove the 1/16" fineline

paint 05.jpg

I used a piece of lace and painted with black

paint 06.jpg

Sprayed candy red

paint 07.jpg

I decided to back up the red candy with copper

paint 08.jpg

After the copper, than remove the 1/16" tape

paint 09.jpg

After the tape was removed I painted the stripe with silver

paint 10.jpg

I masked off the injector stacks with 1/4" 3M blue fineline and then covered the rest of the body with masking tape to protect it

paint 11.jpg

Now I painted some black

paint 12.jpg

I painted some silver on the injector stacks with a paint brush and removed the tape.

The body is now finished

Nesta:

Now use your airbrush and do the same thing.

It's an easy 12 step paint tutorial.
