Only brave souls dare to return to the scene of many past carnages. Who would be next to have their car crippled by this unforgiving track?
I didn't get any photos of the car wrecks, but we did have a big wall blast or two again this month. The back straight after the finger turn along with the donut is the culprit as a wall blast is usually guaranteed for a "rider" as the race director cannot react quick enough to turn off the power once "track" or "rider" is shouted. This is one tough track to race on since the lane spacing is very narrow and some of the turns are very tight. The bank turn usually has major crashes with the race director sometimes ducking flying cars. The black lane in particular, especially the very tight deadman turn, reminds one of the song by Jan and Dean, "Deadman's Turn".
Thanks to Jim and Debby Watterson for their support of D3 racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race directors, Paul Sterrett and Robert Park.
