I have never raced a TSR motor before Do you gear them like a falcon motor or are they different ? Also do they run the same direction? I was thinking 9-28 am I close.

They run the opposite direction.

They have less timing so they can usually run a 1 tooth bigger pinion.

They have way more brakes...

If your car is right at minimum weight, I'd try a 9/27.

They also coast like a Falcon, so keep that controller hammered at the end of the heat :D !

I am not a doctor, but I played one as a child with the girl next door.

The timing difference is in theory only about 3 degrees compared to a Falcon7. The magnets are the same. With 48 pitch gears you gear them like a Falcon 7 but if you are running the ProSlot motors a bigger pinion is a must on the TSR.

For the R4, start with a 9:28 and play around with the crown gear from there.

Just to remind everyone I am posting the announcement made by the IRRA regarding hand-out motors on 10/29/10..

- Due to an incident in a recent race where a racer's hand-out motor failed during his qualifying run, the IRRA™ Board is adding the following regulation to the rules. This regulation goes into effect immediately and will be added to the full IRRA™ ruleset when clarifications and additions since the last major rules revision are rolled in.

Should a racer's hand-out motor fail during the qualifying run or the warm-up, the racer will be given the opportunity to change to another hand-out motor without penalty, if a second hand-out motor purchased by the racer is available.

I didn't think the coupe race was qualifying. I don't remember there being warm-ups either. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

Coupes will have qualifying according to the Race Format post. Format similar to ORS format. Seeding then total laps from any of the mains determines final finishing.
If there is a 1 minute warm-up before the first heat then this applies too.

TSR shipped plenty of motors to Mike McMasters so I am pretty sure that would such an incident happen, there would be plenty of motors left to play with.
