Bill, you know I have the gap at .015 and everything is aligned.
So I will add the shunts.

It sings pretty loud and strong. I'll try some shunts and see if I can improve the temp.

Is it an early-production motor, using 16D-sized brushes?
Or, have you opted for better performance, and found some 36D-sized brush hoods to use?

Indeed, the motor runs better with shunts.
Thanks to Greg Wells for the shunt wire and insulation. 8)

As soon as I receive the 1/4 X 1/8 ball bearings I can start the rear axle tubing, using dc-65x method. The 9/32 OD tubing sandwich will just butt up against the bracket, not go through it. The chassis design has redundancy and I think it will be every bit as strong as the original, maybe even more.
I received the body today, it has no taper. Why was the original chassis tapered? A speed secret? Or maybe the original body was tapered? :?:

Looking good, my friend 8) . Looking at PdL's pictues I ASSumed the chassis was not tapered. I'm probably wrong . . . only PdL knows for sure . As for how the body fits on such a wide chassis, well it's a stretch for sure. Look at the last picture in PdL's restoration article. The bottom of the body actually rides above the frame rails a little in the back. I added a piece of black plastic on mine to cover them up. You can see it in my pictures.
Have fun!

I thought it was tapered because of the computer-aided design.
Now that I look at the original again it looks straight.
So maybe the dc-65x and the Pablo/Dieter Jens chassis are korrect in their straightness.
Is there a Dokktor in the house? Or a Steube? :?:
My eyes are better after the surgery, I just noticed the rear body mount is ABOVE the drop arm hinge. This is good news, because it will eliminate hinge slop.
Rick, I'm learning they used to LOVE to s t r e t c h the bodies over the chassis. I'll build this one to do the same
Here is the powerplant for your viewing pleasure only. It's NOT for sale, Edo.

I'll bet you have more slot car motors than my wife has handbags AND shoes.
Now go grind some tires to 20.64 mm and put a 7t or 8t pinion on one of (your own) motors.

Did you do a post somewhere that showed lots of vintage rewound motor pictures? If so, could I have a link to it please?
Thanks!
