Does anyone know how to remove the steel shaft from the aluminium drum?
Is it cemented in?
Retaining compound?
Has it been sweated in?
I don’t think it’s threaded in.
I need to remove this for a project.

Unscrew the allens that secure the pulley and the one that secures the drum to the shaft. Remove one of the side panels (I forget which one) and it comes out. The shaft is not glued or threaded to the drum. It should tap right out.

I’ve handled maybe 200 of them and youd think I would know by now…
Actually, there’s three distinct drums that Hudy has produced. Not sure if the attachment is different but the drums sure are.

It’s likely pressed in based on how wide the mating surface is

I’ve given it some pretty solid taps with a hammer but it doesn’t seem eager to budge
I don’t want to hit any harder for fear of distorting the drum
I’ll try a press
