For those oldtimers who still have their old slot car boxes or photos of their boxes, try to post some photos of the various stickers you had on your box(es) back then.

I'll start it off with a photo of my old slot car box (now in Scott Bader's LASCM).

It's easy to spot in Scott's museum with its USRA letters on the box. This box also has some old stickers/labels from the '60s.
Here's a few photos of some of the stickers/labels. Post photos of your old box labels if you have any to share.

My old slot car box was still in my parent's garage. It had been sitting idle for 37 years before I rediscovered slot car racing in 2006.

Steube and Champion labels along with a decal from Dan Gurney's All American Racers shop in Santa Ana, CA.

IMG_3431_3.JPG

The Bondurant label was acquired as a participant at the Car Model race in '68 which Charlie Nelson won the first-ever Western States race. Charlie won a driving course at the Bondurant school, but since he was fifteen at the time, he gave the prize to Doug Henline. The smaller red lane sticker is from Checkered Flag Raceway in Torrance, CA. This raceway hosted the fourth Rod and Custom race (1966) which Mike Morrissey won and Mike Steube was top qualifier in his first ever R&C race. A fourteen-year-old employee at the track named Roger Newell was second in this race and eleven-year-old Larry Anderson was fourth in the main.

Sometimes, a simple label or sticker reminds us of some wonderful times in our past.

Keith,

I lost all my old boxes, as I have been a vagabond all my life.

I bought this one on eBay, it's mine now:

Does anyone know how many STP stickers were given out from about 1968 to 1971??? LOL.

I remember being in first grade in 1970 and there was a girl who brought a stack of about 300 to school one day to hand out.

Why? Let me guess, Ron. You want to put one on your baby seal club.

All I asked was if anyone had an idea of how many stickers STP handed out.

We all know what came after that.

I have been collecting and reproducing the artwork for a sheet of stickers to be sold to fund the proxy. Right now I am too busy to work on them but eventually, plan to have them for sale individually for $3 each and as a sheet of 10 for $20.

The designs I am working on right now are:
STP
Russkit
Riggen Tiger
Parma Tiger
Pactra
Revell
Dynamic
Cox Dyna Rewind
Associated
Mura

Also thought I would toss in a couple of Surf stickers like Rick Griffin and other board logos.
Tell me what you think, is this something you guys are interested in?
Because I am watching the posts from now on for other cool stickers to reproduce.

(not you, Jairus, we posted at the same time)
I hope the mods delete all your crap.
Take it somewhere else; it does not belong here.

Ron you are a man that I admire and you won't back down and that is all good, I hope that they don't think that you are that way?
If they do so they sure are fools. :laugh2:
Maybe we should do this?

I had the pleasure of meeting up with my old friend Bill Marquette at BPR last Thursday night. He had brought with him
Ron Granlee's slot car box. This is the box Ron had since '62 - '63 (to the best of our knowledge). Back then there really

were no boxes made specifically for slot cars…. so racers began buying wooden fishing tackle boxes or machinist tool boxes.
Back in '66 - '67 I had the pleasure of designing the "Speed and Sport" sticker that you see on top of the box for Ron.

Enjoy!
Miko

I just HAD to get in on the fun after seeing Rick Davis' box. I MUST have seen it when I was at TSS Hobbies but didn't notice how similar it was to mine. Every Sticker Tells a Story, Don't It?

Posted ImagePosted Image

Front and Top - Boo Berry cereal ghost, original Winston Cup sticker (just like the ones on the cars, I think), Car Model Magazine, the Westland HO Racing Association (WHORA), the Parma "Tiger" and an original Parma sticker. The Triumph sticker is vintage as well as the peace sign, STP and the old Marines slogan. The others are more modern.

Posted ImagePosted Image

Inside the lid, the "Moose" owned Malibu Raceway in Inkster, MI, Crash and Burn in Slymar, CA (I also found a roll of Crash and Burn stickers from Granada Hills, CA)and a business card from Thayer's Family Hobby Center (Bill Thayer of Thayer HO Racing Shells). The "degreaser" is a defense against "Big Dean", kind of like garlic to ward off vampires - it is still working as I have not had any "Dean attacks" in decades!

Posted ImagePosted Image

Left and Right sides. The 1971 MAR Nationals at Parma really dates me - but an astonishingly robust sticker, eh? The "PEACE Paddle Power" is a .025 thick aluminum metal piece commemorating the US to China goodwill ping pong tour during the Nixon administration! It feels so "Forrest Gump" to still have it. The "Frankenberry" and "W.C. Fritos" stickers did not survive the restoration of the box when I got back into racing with the Retro Cars.

Posted ImagePosted Image

Box Open and Back - some RMRRA Stock Cars (obviously, the 427 SOHC '67 Fairlane is a short track cars as the engine was never legal in big league stock car racing) and the iconic White Castle cheeseburger lane marker. Goodyear and S&S Headers stickers are old vintage, the rest are newer.

Rick's box has shown me that there is room for another slide-out tray and the front faces can mount additional memorabilia.

(I apologize, I don't know why the pictures repeat at the end. I can't seem to edit them out - help, Cheater?!?)

Let's see some more boxes!

Keep it in the slot,

AJ

Sorry about the nerf. "Sorry? Sorry? There's no apologizing in slot car racing!"

Besides, where would I even begin?   I should probably start with my wife ...

"I don't often get very many "fast laps" but I very often get many laps quickly."

The only thing I know about slot cars is if I had a good time when I leave the building! I can count the times I didn't on one two three hands!
