Hi Friends,

I've just finished my latest scratch of an Indianapolis car which is for me one of the best representative car of a gold age.

The chassis is from Penelope Pitlane with some modifications, the body is resin from Geodis, the decals are from
Indycals, the tires and wheels are Scalex (but I'm looking for others). The pilot is from PSK.

Jean-Joseph, I am anything but an expert on indy cars, but to my eyes this looks lovely. And like so many of us, the old MRRC 4WD indy novi was a lust object that was far out of reach for my schoolboy pocket money budget. I don't know geodis - are these resin bodies still available, and how could I get in touch with them?

Jean-Joseph, iy is very nice. Two observations: the Dunlop wheels are hard to model in the 1/32 scale, but are the same as those used on a Jaguar E-Type "Lightweight", so it is possible that Revell had some on their models. Also the left-side oil tank is actually following the curve of the body side.

Penelope Pitlane make Dunlop inserts. I'm using some for a Lister Jaguar that I'm building for an upcoming UK meeting.

Cheers

Thing is, they are not the same. There are two types of Dunlop wheels, the old "2-piece" with steel center and riveted magnesium rim as on the D-Type and Listers etc., and the one-piece cast magnesium as on the Novi and the Lotus 29, a design also used on the Ferrari Dino 246 and 365P2 in 1965. These have little rectangular holes in them, not the round holes of the previous older type.
The E-Type lightweight had those later wheels, and I wonder what Revell did on their relatively recent model. Maybe they got it right? Certainly, MRRC did not.

Thanks for yours replies :)

David, yes MRRC Novi with 4WD is also a Holy Grail for me, normally at Le Mans, next sunday (slot cars show) , Philsmith will bring a Mercedes 4WD MRRC to me, the first one for me,
a great day for a collector !
Geodis is an ebay vendor, he lives in france. His resins are a bit rought but with a good dremel that's ok ;)

Philippe, thanks for the wheels, it's very difficult for me to find good informations. Yes I know for the fuel tank and I search an other solution.

Rotor, thanks for the photos, as I have only open wheels, I don't know well the others models

John, I had search for hours on the net for good photos of Indianapolis speedway, by luck I find a website with good photos and without roadsters !
Just print the photo on a bristol paper and enlarge for A4 format. Cut the margins and glue on 2 spikes in the monogram rails holes to maintain the bristol.

A good sunlight, and shoot the photo.

Jean-Joseph

Hello friends :)

I've put another wheels on the Novi and a new car appears, the 1965 Dan Gurney's Lotus 38 (Ostorero kit).

The oil tank has been remodelled to follow the curve of the body.

Hope you enjoy the cars.
