Tony Mourkas ran in the Nuvolari Enduro a few years ago. That's probably the first time he drove an HO car in fifteen years

Spoke to Tony. He drove the VW for a couple of years then sold it to a friend who drove it for an additional couple of more years. Loved it especially in the snow. Does not know were the car is now.

Glad to hear he and a subsequent owner got some good use out of it.

I've seen that video many times. It's a great video. I'm sure one day the track will be up and running again. Brad Bowman will probably have someone redo the video.

It would be great if he got back to racing, although it may be a bit of a drive to Modelville.
John,
Road trip let me Know when Ready? Sure we can get a crew from NJ maybe some old TEAM 1/64.
That track was at Parma?
Thanks

I was just talking to Peter Lentros about the Parma track today. That track was built like a brick s house. We are looking at widening the outside lanes but we don't know if it's feesable. I'm hoping that whatever we decide on , that it will be completed by late September or earlier. In it's day it was really a Super Track

Thank You for the copy of Car Model Magazine Official H O Competition Track advertisment .The ad appeared in Car Model Magazine issues in middle to late 1970. There are only be a few of these tracks that still exist. They are very very rare. We have one at Modelville Hobby. We also have the Parma Challenge track which is being restored as we type. The design of both tracks are called Engleman designs. The Car Model track was actually built by Stan Engleman for Car Model magazine. Thanks again

Most here have probably seen this somewhat blurry YouTube video of the Katz Spa Ring. But for those who haven't, enjoy...

John, just Google Katz Spa Ring - there are a few things that come up. I will never forget my two visits to Greg, and racing with him on his beautiful track. We've unfortunately lost him, but his legacy lives on in that magnificent track.

The Car Model Magazine Official H O Competition Track at Modelville Hobby that is being restored is just about done. Look at the photos of the track under G-Jet F1 track on this site; www.usg-jetgrandprix.com

Puma Japan made several track designs. The one that BSRT owns was the most popular. Puma made a King track. Great looking with full bank and purple formica siding. BSRT/ Scale Auto shows it in one of it's publications. Most people thought that the King was destroyed but it wasn't. It still exists in Japan at a 1/32 scale shop. The track was disassembled and is in storage. I'm guessing you can buy it for $10,000 plus shipping and handling.

I think you could put the Buck Scorpion or Brystal Scorpion on the list. It's presently the most popular design in HO racing. It's what the the King Track is to 1/24 scale racing. In the late early 60's or early 70's, Auto World with the cooperation of Aurora came out with the Clubman design. The Clubman in it's original version probably belongs on the lsit.

I also ran on the Puma that Gary has when it was set up at West Seattle Speedway. Somehow I even beat Gary on it once, hugh surprise to me. The stars must have aligned just right.
Seems my brief HO racing stint was done on great new generation of tracks and some kind of turning point in HO possibly (?). It was fun.

I've seen only pictures of some of the tracks you mentioned. I still remember when the Veloctidrome first came out. I wonder were it is now? I know that some work was done on the Puma track but I think it didn't come out as expected. I'm guessing one day it will be covered over with plywood and a new contemporary Puma track design using rail will be in it's place.
I've seen some photos of Brian's newest track. I hear that it incredible. Gutta visit that barn in Oregon one day.

The track was built almost 7 years ago and is portable. It's actually made up of 6 seperate tables and required a special box to be made for shipping across the country from Southern Ca. His track would set up in no time since all the pig tails are already attached to the rails.
My web site also contains photos of the Nantasket Beach Speedway. The track was also built by Bowman.
I've had quite a few 1/24 scale guys on the track. They say it really reminds them of the Elmsford Nuvolari. I'm assuming you've driven on that a few times. John anytime you want to try it out just drop me a e-mail. Your not that far away. PS , I love those NY, 1/24 East Coast Retro guys. Thanks, Stez
