After the GTC event and some Can-Am practice, we were ready for the main event of the day. The Can-Am championship race at THE TRACK. Twelve drivers signed in for the main, with Vinny Spina winning concours with his beautiful JK Ti22.

And who else but Mr. T/Q himself, John Gorski, wins the Can-Am T/Q award, nipping Dale Granger. Congrats to John on his second T/Q of the day.

Can-Am Qualifying results:

1. John Gorski - 4.0333 secs
2. Dale Granger - 4.0423
3. Bill Gerhart - 4.0683
4. Roman Kormeluk - 4.1335
5. Randy Kohr - 4.1777
6. Robert Rodgers - 4.1887
7. Bob Young - 4.2241
8. Vinny Spina - 4.2880
9. Bill Dougherty - 4.3738
10. Mike Waite - 4.4116
11. Rick Bennardo - 4.4341
12. Tony Moore - 4.5195

The top six were locked into the A Main, positions 7 through 12 went to the B Main (two would advance).

Bob Young got out front early and built a commanding three lap lead with his Skunkworks chassis. By heat 3 he was in cruise control, until he got caught up in some trouble; the body was torn as well as knocking a wire off. This knocked him out of contention. The battle was now on between Bill Dougherty, Vinny Spina, and Rick Bennardo for the move-up spots. At the finish it was Bill Dougherty winning the B Main, trailed by Vinny Spina and Rick Bennardo. Bob Young recovered to finish fourth followed by Tony Moore and Mike Waite. Bill and Vinny moved to the A Main.

B Main results:

1. Bill Dougherty - 312 laps
2. Vinny Spina - 310
3. Rick Bennardo - 305
4. Bob Young - 300
5. Tony Moore - 297
6. Mike Waite - 154

B Main Podium.

The Can-Am A main was up next.

John Gorski got out front at the start. He lead the first heat with a scorching 43 laps followed by Dale Granger and Bill Gerhart. During the second heat, John's car seemed to loose some momentum as Dale and Bill both got by John for the top spots. By heat four, John's day was done as his motor appeared to slow. Dale now led Bill by one lap with Roman K. now moving into third place, four laps back. Dale held on to a one lap lead to the finish as Bill just could not seem to get back on the lead lap. Dale went on to win, with Bill Gerhart second and Roman Kormulek on the podium in third. Randy Kohr nipped Vinny Spina for fourth. Robert Rodgers, Bill Dougherty, and John Gorski rounded out the field.

Congrats to Dale on winning the Can-Am event.

Can-Am A Main results:

1. Dale Granger - 329 laps - Skunkworks chassis - best time 4.16 secs
2. Bill Gerhart - 327 - Skunkworks - 4.21
3. Roman Kormeluk - 320 - R-Geo - 4.17
4. Randy Kohr - 318 laps - Skunkworks - 4.17

Fun day with a fun group. The Mason Dixon guys have figured out how to mix rules enforcement and fun creating a relaxed atmosphere to make the race day a nice experience for all.

Great job guys and thanks for doing it.

To all that participated, thanks for making the trip to the TRACK. I look forward to next season.

Here's a few more pics from the day.
