In those dark days before Zip Codes. before the Ocelot, Coronado and other RTR, Gar-Vic didn't list bodies in the catalogue I have. They did show a generic looking Lotus 30, but my catalogue has no part # or price. This chassis was available as a bare kit $1.98, or complete with wheels , tires, axles, guide, bearings $4.95, or with a gear set too $5.95 we assume it was assembled ?

Actually they also had a complete car kit for this chassis, a 1/24 scale Ford GT with a clear-plastic body, stock # 3000, in a small blue and white box and a Revell SP600 blue FT36 motor.
They don't come up that often anymore, but in the 1990s and before collections were filled, you could not give them away fast enough... :)

Actually in my original catalogue the Garvic 3000 is the sidewinder chassis complete , minus motor . The 2000 was the complete chassis like the one shown previously.

Gary, the #3000 is also used for the complete kit car with body and motor, that is quite common. The complete car kit is in a blue and white box, the complete chassis kit is in a yellow box.
:)
Pictures will follow...

If you look about halfway down the last post here, with all the photos, there's a blue Renault Dauphine No. 64, built by Samy Béraha, the organizer of the Bordo vintage meeting, and he used one of these chassis... handled pretty well too!

The wheels shown on the chassis in the first photo, appear to be Gar vic however they are not the ones shown in the cataloge as having been included in the #2000 chassis kit. Those are shown in the catalogue photo. The photo of the Lotus 30 appears to be mocked up to show off the wheels, since the catalogue has no listing for a steering front end, body mount as shown , or any other reference to that Lotus body.
