Mark,at Marks Model World has decided to join in on the frenzy that Slot Car historians will call the Great Flatrack Scare of the Early 21st Century.:laugh2: Pics of the start at:

Track measures aprox 136ft. Track will have magnetic braid so it will be 1/32 friendly also. Bill

Looks gorgeous! I like the layout as it looks to have a good mix of braking points and sweepers. A flat track without goofy little squiggles is all the more fun for me.

Looks interesting...

Perhaps a Retro race, or an ISRA scale race...

Would also be great for an Ohio Valley Series 1/32 plastic car series event... ;)

What tracks were removed to make room?

Interesting leg system he is using. Something he thought up?

And NO ESSES! I like it.................

Where is this track located? I'm thinking Canton, Ohio.

Amigo DOCinCocoa,

The track location is in the Football Hall of Fame city of Canton, Ohio. Another great track addition at his location. l hope that the other two tracks find a home. Looking forward to race on his first class tracks in up coming Penn-Ohio series.

Looks good Bill! I'm interested in your statement that the track will have magnetic braid to make it 1/32 friendly. Is this to encourage the "arrive and drive" retail customer? The track seems so big and sweeping that it would not cause too many problems for 1/32 cars.

Most of the best 1/32 club tracks in the UK are routed wood, but without magnabriad. Slot.It and NSR-type cars work fine without it, and brass chassis retro cars certainly don't need it. What we find is that on magnabraided or Ninco club tracks it encourages racers to use high-magnetic effect motors, reducing the skill levels required and making racing more predictable. And there's been a backlash against this magnetic advantage, with cars being tested to ensure they DON'T have too much magnetic effect. I guess it's kind of like the tension between rule-makers and racers in real 1:1 racing...

MMW has an active group of 1/32 racers, they race mag assist and non mag assist classes,so as to not make any of the classes go away, installation of the magnetic braid was chosen. The six lane hillclimb that was removed had the magnetic braid on it and that was where most of the 1/32 racing took place. Bill

Mark ran the cost of building traditional modern style track legs 3/4 inch ply wood vs a 2x4 stud wall support system.and the system in the photos won. The main stright elevation increases by a 1/4 inch every 16 inches. The system make for a real smooth surface. One thing for sure Mark is never afraid to try something new. plus you can lean on the track and it does not move

THat was my first thought on his leg system. Economy studs would be much cheaper and probably makes a more rigid platform for the track sections. Mark is no dummy, he builds well and knows what he has in mind. Being a flat track and no real banking invloved, IMO more will copy this?

Bill keep the pictures coming, they sort of let us out of towners keep up to date with his projects.....Thanks

What a beautiful layout  . Nice and flat and no wigglie crap-O-la. Nice turns leading onto usable straights to "open her up"!

May I have it? :D

VERY NICE!!!!

It would be really cool if the IRRA F-1 events were ran on the new road course.

And another thing. Are there any late 60's slot car racers racing at Mark's today? I ask this question because I started racing slot cars in Canton Ohio back in the 60's.
