What's up? I have to make a 2,000 mile round trip to Bangor, Maine, July 2 through July 10. I was hoping to spend a day at the track somewhere near Bangor.
I have not found any luck as of yet and I know it is not the best weekend or week to try to find someone not on vacation.

Any suggestions on where some 1/24 racing might be had?

Thanks in advance,

Cliff

As far as I know, there are no commercial raceways currently operating in Maine. There are a few shown in some of the out-of-date raceways lists on the net, but none of them are still open.

Cliff,

I live right on the border of Maine, and as far as I know there are no raceways left in the state. There are club tracks, but you would have to check to find out where they are located. You could also stop off in Mass and check out Modellville raceway home of the famous Purple Mile and many other nice tracks as well.

That's what I'm finding out myself, sure fooled me with all those long winters. I might have to try and catch the tracks open in Ashland, MA. on the way back or somewhere near the half-way point in the Poconos.

We stopped taking I-95 thru New York City years ago and go around thru PA, a little longer but much more peaceful. Nothing against NYC at all, lived 42 miles out of the city for four years, just getting older I guess.

Plus I hate looking over there and not seeing two buildings that I grew up watching being built with my own eyes.

The search is still on, 1/24 or bust!

While in Maine be sure to spend a day or two on Deer island and Bar Harbor and enjoy some lobster.

It is a part of Arcadia National Park.

Cliff, I was raised in Maine, but as others have said, there are no commercial raceways left in the states of Maine, nor New Hampshire. I don't know how to contact him, but Gil Rivera, originally from CA, has a tri-oval and a dragstrip in the Rockland, ME, area. I don't know if either is currently in use.

Gil occasionally posts on here, so perhaps he'll respond.

Gil's Slotblog ID is:

He's not been on the board since late April, but if you PM him he should get a notification email informing him he has a message here.

Again thanks for the track hunt, guys; it sure helps when you're 1,000 miles from your destination.

My wife's folks are residents throughout the state of Maine. I have had the pleasure of visiting many interesting people and places around the Bangor, Unity, Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain area, etc..

I guess that will be the agenda this trip again but the fishing poles may have to go to find some fighting smallmouth.

Still have not ruled out a stop on the trip back, called Modelville today and he was not sure of his dates that week as of yet. He told me to call him after the 4th of July.
I don't blame anyone for taking some time off in the middle of the summer.

Still on the hunt, and again thanks for all the replies, they have been very helpful.

Cliff
