#1

Today, June 19, we had our Fourth Tokyo D3 race at Cheerio SpeedWay in Tokyo.
Fourteen racers raced in Can-Am, ten in F1.
Mickeyzo, the Race Director, sent me the result just now.
Akitani-san will send me race photos, which I will post later here.
Good Racing,
Haruki
PS: The best time of Komasita-san in the Can-Am race is a rider.

That is some fast laps on that track, good show and you guys are getting fast like the top guys in the A-Main at BPR.

Our track G13 is around one foot higher than the King at BPR, making it difficult for purple and black lane racers to see the end of donuts to the entrance of lead-on.
I asked our great carpenter, Yoshida-san, to improve the sides of the track by making them transparent.
There is a slight negative bank around the exit of bonuts on the black lane, making it still very difficult for D3 cars to drive fast there.
Tebu is a great driver to overcome such difficulties, winning both Can-Am and F1 this time.
Good racing,
Haruki

I was looking at this charts from BP and Tokyo D3 race and found the numbers to be very interesting.
BPR last King track race.
Tokyo last race.
I can see in a six month period you guys will be right there. You guys did a great job.

Some comments about our recent Can-Am podium.
For Tebu, no explanation is necessary but he is very fast. He was a Semi-Pro champ at the 1992 US Nats but is now a serious racer/builder of D3 cars.
Ohtomo-san is an ex-manager of a HO raceway in Tokyo. He again did a good job. I built his car by using a Hanada Can-Am chassis kit (prototype). He beat us with a one-race old motor. !
Nakamura-san used to race before the wing-car period in Tokyo. This is his second D3 race .
I am attaching some pictures of our second F1 race:
Tebu's winning F1 car is built by himself.
My second-place car's chassis is built by Bryan Warmack (Thanks, Bryan!).
The third finisher, Kurata-san, used Craig Correia's IRD F1 chassis, the same type I raced at the Checkpoint Cup this January.
The next Tokyo D3 race is scheduled on July 17 for Can-Am and F1 race.
Good racing,
Haruki

Have you contacted Gary asking for advice how to fix it?There is a slight negative bank around the exit of donuts on the black lane, making it still very difficult for D3 cars to drive fast there.
Also, is that a single piece of brass in the front of Tebu's winning car?

I have already asked Gary how to fix bumps on a track surface, especially on the main straight.
Tokyo's weather is very cold and dry in winter and very hot and humid in Summer. The track surface moves much more here than in the States.
As for the exit of donuts of our track G13, we will do something effective in September, when the track will have experienced four seasons of different weather here in Tokyo. Of course, I will ask Gary for his advice.
The nosepiece of Tebu's Can-Am car consists of three pieces of brass taken from an old Boxstock wing-car chassis (Pro-Slot?) around 1990, I guess. I will ask Tebu and let you know.

As a group, the Tokyo D3 racers are learning quickly how to go fast and most importantly, have fun.
I really like what you've done to the donut railing to provide a better view of the black lane.

Can-Am race starts just now.
F1 tech inspection. Haruki wears Tokyo D3 T-shirt.
Hashimoto is all smiles for his F1 TQ. He set an amazing 4.296 sec.
Tebu receives winners plaques from race director Mickeyzo. Tebu has won five of six races since Tokyo D3 started. Nobody can stop him?

Haruki,
I'm arranging all photos to send them to you now. Please wait for a while.
Keith,
Also I will send you the photos by a ZIP file soon. Please add them to your photo reports site as usual.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the pics.
Haruki,
On the 2.75 lap time in the race, you probably know,
you can (easily) almost eliminate those by setting the minimum lap time
on the SRT to something more realistic such as 4.1.
Last question, what model Ferrari 612 was Tebu using?

Hello Mike,
Thanks for your advice for SRT setting.
Tebu's Ferrari 612 is OS 451, Bloom Waters version as you have pointed out.
It seems very good body.
