The potential to be a truly groundbreaking Retro Race!!!
http://www.imca-slot.../EdiNew2011.htm
I believe 100 % in the IRRA formula of Retro Racing. Cars are looking nice, inexpensive, and everybody who wants so can build his own chassis. Retro racing seems a much better step-in class than the hyper expensive model cars with their pimped up GFK bodies.
I hope that Joe "Noose", Ron Hershman, Tony P. and Mike Swiss will put their shoulders under the initiative.
It should be fine if we could create an IRRA European Championship and an IRRA Pacific Championship.
The 2012 Retro Worlds should be a big promotion to make Retro Racing better known outside the US.

Today I added a short comment how to get an event which must interest TV networks. You find it together with the former article.

I'd be happy to host the event.
It sounds terrific.
I'm sure your #1 fan, Howard Ursaner, would even be happier.
I'd also be happy to drop my spot in the race, to concentrate on race direction,
and have my slot filled by someone like Chuck Gambo (no plane ticket needed, lives 6 minutes away)
Jeff Lauterbach, Tony P, Ralph Thorne, etc.
It would be terrific to see Jan Limpach with a controller in his hand.
He was made for Retro.
If anyone can coax him out of retirement, it's you.

I would do whatever i can to help make this a great event.I urge everyone to stay positive and overcome the obstacles. There is no need for any negative feelings. What could be better than having the best worldwide racers, with retro cars. on a king track right here in the U.S. This would be historic.JP,
I'd be happy to host the event.

After some lunch in my belly, I thought of a run-off race, the day before,
open to anyone, with the winner filling the slot I hope to vacate.

Open to anyone or invite only?
From what I understand in very limited discussion with JP and this is not official..... me thinks the race is "two" groups. The first group is the "invited or ranked" drivers....24 total.
The second group is open to any and all......... that group will be raced on Saturday in a separate race and the Top 8 finishers from this group will move up and race with the 24 "inivted/ranked" drivers making the Sunday race a 32 man/car field.
A very interesting concept and who knows.... someone from that first group could win that race and move up to the invited field and win that race as well.

It's sounding better by the minute.

Agreed!!! Now Mike if you are chosen to host the race..... how many racers can you fit in your building? I could see this racing pulling in 60 to 80 racers real easy.

. . .pulling in 60 to 80 racers real easy.
Or more. . .
When will we ever have the chance to get all these guys together again? I would guess that anyone with the disposable income will travel from the States and Abroad just to be in the room and have a chance to make "The Show".
I know that I will be there. . .

Good questions.Agreed!!! Now Mike if you are chosen to host the race..... how many racers can you fit in your building? I could see this racing pulling in 60 to 80 racers real easy.
60 is fairly easily doable.
80 would be tight but still doable.
The flat track would not be used so the tables on that side could be extended longer or "T'ed" and
still have a DG approved 42".
Also, the flat track itself was made table height to serve as an emergency pit space.
I'm in 3 units so I have 3 A/C units and 2 200 amp services so no problems there.
Max occupancy is 123 people.
Just the same, I don't see 60-80 guys set-up at the same time.
The race looks to be designed for a first wave of 30-50 and a 2nd wave
of 32 the next day.
With the 24 super-duper stars not having access to the track while the other racing is going on,
they don't require access to a pit space.
If they want to work on their cars the day before, they can do so in my garage. LOL

It now looks like there will be plenty of open slots.
The price on the stock of my one slot tanked has since tanked.
If this materializes, you better show or I'll send MantaRay out to
bring you in.......

Take that flat track out of the building and plenty of room of racers.... you can always put the flat track in your garage LOL
I didn't know if there is a vacant building next to yours that could be used or not for pitting as well.

I need to move closer LOL I haven't been to a track since Jan!!! Work almost every weekend, working on a car for the first time in a LONG time today! Good to "type" with you again!!! Oh this would be definitely vacation material here, along with a "SANO" *hint* LOL! (if I can remember how to drive!)

Zero - three percent chance on moving the flat track.Take that flat track out of the building and plenty of room of racers.... you can always put the flat track in your garage LOL
I didn't know if there is a vacant building next to yours that could be used or not for pitting as well.
Why didn't I think of the other option?
1280 & 1600 sq. ft. are vacant next door as of today.
Too early to worry above it just yet.

You would have to include the top D3 guys from BPR. Otherwise, you just have what's left

Per meeting a victor ludorum list is made, based upon top-10 results at each individual race (20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 points per individual race). At the end of a meeting the 10 racers having collected points at individual races are ranked resulting in 20 pts for the victor ludorum, 15 pts for his runner-up, 12 pts for the overall third, until 1 point for the overal 10th.
With Duran Trujillo, Bryan Warmack, Doug Matthes and Jonathan Forsyth you find 4 BPR racers among the USA top-12.
