Here is the first look at the revised Scratch Builder.

I got some ideas from some of the top builders and have revised the fixture. I also have added some new exclusive attachments for the pin tubes and bite bar.

Check out the clamping bridge, I think all scratchbuilders will like this feature you can customize the bridge to any configuration of tension arms or hold down screws you want.
I made this one for the pans or the front piece.

The axle posts have been spread to 3.125" and the jig wheels are tire size and width.

Hi Mac,
The new fixture will be available next week.
I'm working on jig wheels for the front wheels.
All Scratch Builder chassis fixtures will be made
with the 1 3/16" material. I'm getting excellent feedback
on the new material.

Thanks for choosing Precision Slot Car products!!!

If anybody would like shorter wheel bases,
I will machine the axle posts + or - any dimension you like.
The fixture has axle posts for plus or minus 1/16" (.0625)

Thanks Scott,
I,m going to have the final version done next week, and will ship ASAP.
I still might tweak the fixture some. If the shorter wheel bases are what
the racers want I will add 3 7/8" and 3 3/4" to the final version.

Any other suggestions or modification for the Scratch builder now
is the time to get them to me.

I got my first look at the new scratch builder on Friday and with the new overhead clamping system and you should be able to make just about anything! If you wanted a short wheelbase car you could use the overhead clamp to hold a shorter wheelbase in any position you would like... i.e. you could butt the build axel up to the back side of the 4 inch and hold it in place with the clamping system. And now you can do your pin tubes the same way every time (so a body change is as simple as taking one off and putting a different one on) I LOVE this feature. Dave keeps making fixtures better and better, the new jig wheels are very cool and the super thick block is just about bullit proof.

Yup, a great & innovative adaptation of the "Duffy Pinner" concept! Posted Image
I'm just havin' fun. And I applaud. I got my idea (all-unknowing, by the way) from a TSR product, and here's another good way. We're all improving on what's out there, and the customer wins every time.

One thing the pin-indexed pinner did was to ensure repeatability for multiple chasses. You get the same here by measuring & keeping notes.

Great block, Dave!

What about putting measurements lines on the sides, to make the aligning of pin tube blocks at the same positions. Also, a pan width mark of 2-1/2" wheel base of 3" to 3-1/4"
set on the block? Will be waiting on the pricing. :good:

This is the production version of the 2012 Scratch Builder.

I will offer the fixture in both short wheelbase and standard wheelbase.

The short wheelbase version is for angle winders and any chassis you want to build with short wheelbases.

The standard version is for all retro chassis's and Formula 1 you can build + or - 1/16".

This is a precision chassis fixture, you can see in the pictures that all chassis pieces are pinned in place.
Chassis width and rear axle width are all set with precision. No measuring, no muss, no fuss.
The fixture assures that your chassis is absolutely straight, square, perpendicular, and centered to tolerances of + or minus .001".
This is the major difference between a jig and a precision fixture.

The Scratch builder fixture made with 1 3/16" material retails for $129.95 for the complete package. (jig wheels, build axles and hardware)

There is a $15.00 charge for machining the t-slots in the sides.

Accessories that can be purchased separately are the pin tube feature $24.95, or the Clamping bridge $19.95

Jig wheels for all Retro classes front and rear, all machined with proper clearance.

Front axle post for 1/16" axles for the anglewinders.

Engraved lines for guide length.

Made with 1-3/16" material that is non-thermoformable and is 1-1/2 times thicker than any other material available.

This thickness is only available through Precision Slot Cars.

the Scratchbuilding jig works great for just about any chassis! I have used it for several GT12 chassis, C11's, X25's, JK F1 D3's, and to rebuild my Horky Eurosport after a really bad crash where I had to disassemble it and straighten it. I've also used it for my G27L chassis (gotta keep hitting the walls so I don't have the straighten them so often!) .

I hope to be able to upgrade mine to have the side slots. I have the previous version and I really like the thicker material! Well worth the extra money IMHO. Nice job Dave!

Hi Gary,
I was hoping one of the Master builders would answer that question.

Many customers have told me they build every chassis they race on the Scratch Builder.
Just as you have. Thanks for the insight on how universal the Scratch Builder fixture is.

Gary get the Fixture to me for the upgrades. I'll have it shipped back the next day.

PSC Scratch Builder precision chassis fixtures are always in stock! Order today and start building in three days.

PSC is the only manufacturer to offer material that's the thickest available 1-3/16" (1.187).

PSC is the chassis fixture chosen by builders worldwide. Don't settle for a less then a Precision jig. Remember the old saying you get what you pay for!

Greg VanPeenen called me on Thursday afternoon to order a custom scratch builder chassis fixture.
I took his specs and here it is.

Greg told me he so busy building chassis's that he needed another fixture, I think he has four now.
This new one is the full blown version.
Rick Davis asked for his latest scratch builder with a shorter t-slot,
I took that design and came up with the tuning fork version.

Custom machining for any PSC product is always an option!
When a PSC scratch builder shows up at your door you have everything
included to start building.
NO other manufacturer offers a full build kit,or PSC exclusive 1 3/16" thick material.
Scratch builder and all PSC products are available all day everyday.
I need to thank all the racers who have offered ideas on the design of the
PSC scratch builder chassis fixture. By far the best and only chassis fixture available.
Congratulations Greg on your chassis winning the Retro Palooza!!! Keep cranking out those championship chassis.
