Barcelona 2011 Slot-Car Worlds on Spanish TV

If you surf to the IMCA website and click on the image (top right), you'll find the report on the Barcelona Worlds that was on the Spanish TV. There are wonderful images of Howie Ursaner and Chris Radisich, both in world champion shirts.
As I explained several times in the past such TV reports are the (only) way to get decent sponsoring money. A short report (6sixminutes) as the one on the Spanish TV is worth between 30 to 50,000 Euro on sponsoring income (50 to 70,000 dollars).
I am now thinking to organise, in view of the Chicago 2013 IRRA event, a European IRRA Retro championship, with a couple of American racers, to contest on the magnificent Blue King at Bruhl (Germany) and to let it being covered by the German TV. Then we can use that spot in the States to go after American sponsor money.
Those of you who are interested to show at the 2012 IRRA European Championship can mail to jppro@pandora.be .
Regards,
JPVR

Howie/Chris, can you give those of us in North America a quick overview of the cars you were running? They looked fast enough to be interesting, but slow enough not to turn into blurs for the TV cameras. Looks like no glue on the track. Cleaning the tires with double faced tape? Tires are made of...
Looks like a great event for slot racing in Europe and the rest of the world for that matter. Congrats to all involved.

Who has an e-mail address where I can contact them?
I wish to invite for the IRRA Retro Euronats also the best British retro-racers, certainly James Cleave and a couple of guys of his club.
Germany is a terrible wide market with more than 15,000 active racers.
The IRRA Retro Euronatson TV is a perfect way to let the Germans discovering retro racing.
Important for TV coverage are:
- all racers with deep purple T-shirts with their proper name on it, the national flag and the rainbow flag for all those who won earlier a world championship
- the spectacular trophies
- black suit for the race director and the scrutineers
- nice bodies in flashing colours
All this will be necessary to prepare the big 2013 Chicago Worlds. The German TV report will help to open doors of the US national networks.
Moreover I'll convince SANDY GROSS to come back as a racer. Give me some time.
And it should be great if we could have also John Cukras, Mike Steube, Terry Schmid and Dave Fiedler. Here you Americans have to help to convince them. PdL too is welcome, because let's forget on German soil the differences between IRRA & D3: we are ONE big world of retro racers.
I also forgot to add Jonathan FORSYTH at the previous short list. Of course he must come over.

Here are some links to our major Australian events.... and who the best Australian retro racers?
Who has an e-mail address where I can contact them?
The Geoghegan Trophy, July 30 2011.
Australian Nationals, Sept 18 2010.
NSW State Championship, Dec 12 2009.
Australian Nationals, Oct 31 2009.
The results include most of the main Aussie Retro racers, with the exception of Wayne Bramble who usually runs the events as race director.
Wayne should be considered up there with the best.
Based on these results, and alocating points for position, these racers would be ranked as;
As well as Wayne, there are other good drivers that did not compete in these 4 events.

In this bright future you can't forget your past.
BMW (Bob Marley and the Wailers)
United we stand and divided we fall, the Legends are complete.
I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.
Pistol Pete you will always be in my memory.

Who of you all knows who are the best Japanese retro racers and who the best Australian retro racers?
Who has an e-mail address where I can contact them?

How about adding Jan Limpach and Joel Montague to the "maybe" list? A couple others from that era that also come to mind Mitch Keil, Bob Cotton, Don Barber, Eddie Sohl, Rande Marshall, Mike Swiss, Dave Simerka...I could go on and on... I'm sure there are other names other people could add. The bottom line is I think it's a great idea for a race and I wish you the best of luck pulling it all together. Hopefully it will be video streamed and those of us on this side of pond can watch.
