I just got a fairly nice Russkit Lotus 30, but it's missing the rollbar... I don't see how or if one was attached, at least no holes. Is it just 'glued' on?

Yes, it DID have one, but it was a loose part found inside the KIT. It was up to the customer to install the bar, a simple process involving the punching of the pre-marked indents on te body with a straight pin, and simply pushing the wire form through them.
This car was only marketed in RTR form in the last months of the Russkit company, and in different colors than those found inside the kits. The RTR models did not incorporate the roll bar.
The known body colors in the KITS are:
-Green
-Medium metallic blue
-Light blue (quite rare)
The known RTR colors are (all with black fogging):
-Silver
-Metallic red
-Metallic green
-Gold
Here is a sample of what they look like:

Philippe, thank you very much for this post.
How did they run, and which, if any, were the tuning/improving tips at the time?

Great looking cars, did the LASCM have any interest in the half dozen Russkit poster items that recently sold ? Russkit Lotus Poster

Stefano, in a word they run great! If you are in contact with Franco or any of the other guys in Torino ask them, because they really know how to get the most out of the Russkit Carrera sidewinders.
They've proven to be more and more popular in various vintage events here, as people have found out how good they are. I must admit I don't know the specific tuning tips, except for good round tires, but I'm sure somebody will pop up with those - well, some of them! I had a Lotus when I was a kid, but could never get it to run that well, and I'm not sure I'd do any better now...
I just got back from the vintage meeting in Dunkerque/Nieuport (Belgium) and two of the top three finishers in 1/24 were Russkit Carrera chassis, behind a much more floppy scratch built type chassis. And I finished 4th with a Russkit Porsche Carrera with the "Super Spyder" chassis - Long live Russkit!
