Team HRE will be racing at Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday Oct 1st in the Mod-4 division as a support class for the Extreme Must See Sprint Car Series.

These sprint cars will be turning laps in the 12's at Bristol! That's freaking fast! Here are a few pics of our Mod-4 car at a Bristol press conference last week:

Nice looking car. 2300 engine?

We raced at Bristol a couple times in the not too popular Mini Stock National Championship races, probably in 1975 and 6.

I believe seated around 15,000 then with about a third of those seats were on the grass along the back straight. I remember a great big hole in the parking lot on the flag stand side of the track. It was a giant hole that must have been where they got the dirt to build the banks that I think were about 15 degrees then. Track sure has come a long way! :)

I was considering coming out to race with Mike Lowery, but couldn't get a cylinder head done in time.

That's cool! Didn't even know they had those back then!

Yes, 2300, bored .030, .510 lift Isky cam, 300 deg duration, with a 106 centerline. Head shaved .130", 5.7" Crower Sportsman rods, Wiseco forged pistons, Schoenfeld header, Holley carb.

Stock engine makes about 90HP, we dynoed about 240. These cars are fun to drive! I have driven lots of race cars, even Hooter's Pro Cup on Speed channel back in 99, but I swear these are just as much fun!

Mercury Capri with a early Mustang front end?

A friend of mine is into the 2.3 Ford's and currently has a 4 valve Volvo head turbo charged stroked 2.3 in his play car. I don't remember what numbers is was putting out on the chassis dyno?

Dont you cut into the intake studs at .130" or did you angle-mill?

Good eye Rob! It is a 1981 Capri with a 1984 Mustang nosepiece.
