Is this a stock late version Classic Competition Asp (especially in regards to the front and reat wheels)? Thanks.

Never never never saw one with those wheels. Never even saw those wheels seperately on a card. When did this come out?

Same question here Gary... I had a vague memory of seeing those front wheels somewhere, but just checked the early Classic ads and an article, and it seems to have the same little front wheels with holes as the earlier Asp. The ad in late 1966 had rear wheels that look like these (but in B&W), and the article in March 67 (MCS) has back wheels that look a bit taller and narrower. My own model has narrower gray (blue? - don't have it with me) rear tires and the small front wheels... but not sure how original it is.
Was the back always cut out?

What's the O.D. of those front wheels?

The front wheels were also used on the Serpent and Gamma Ray.These were also used on some of the Competition Asps. The rear rim diameter seems small, but I have found all sorts of rim sizes on these cars.

It is only a winner if the intact original gold body is part of the deal. otherwise it is just yet another of a zillion old useless chassis out there...
and a repro body will not help much. In vintage slot cars, the most fragile part of the car makes 90% of the artifact's historical or financial value.
And as for all collectibles, after originality, the three most important factors are:
1- Condition
2- Condition
3- Condition
