Remember that ALMS support series that Steve D. posted about in 1:1?
They had three of the cars displayed at Road Atlanta yesterday, and one of them caught my eye:
Check out the decal on its flank.
I spoke to the guy manning the booth and he informed me that this white car is owned by Hap Sharp's son...

Here's the list of sponsored cars from the era I've found, and I'm probably forgetting some:
Russkit Porsche 906
Lancer Lola T70
Cox Chaparral
K&B Nickey McLaren
Eldon Lotus 19
In England, Scalextric sponsored an F2 or F3 team I think, maybe just for a year. And there were all the drivers who endorsed sets, but that's another story....

Pure nostalgia of his dad's Chaparral 2 of course, but lots of fun!Check out the decal on its flank.

Actually there are a few more, like the Bob Bondurant Lola with a "Unique" sticker (if I can find the picture), of course the various Koveleski Auto World cars, there was a Lola T70 with the K&B sponsorship... there are more Russkit ones too, the Lang-Cooper and a McLaren-Elva driven by Hayes. Here's the list of sponsored cars from the era I've found, and I'm probably forgetting some:

Right about Unique, Philippe - there's a big article in MC&T, Feb. '66, about Unique sponsoring a Lola T70 (Pacesetter Homes model) in the Stardust and Nassau Grand Prix races. In turn, Bondurant became a full-time research director for Unique (well, that's what it says - and early '66 was probably the peak of the fad, so lots of money floating around).
There are a couple photos of the Lola in the article, but can't see any Unique logo..

We were just discussing the Bondurant affiliation with that rather mediocre Unique company. I asked Bob earlier this year what was the relationship between him and Unique, and he said something in the lines of "They contacted me and offered me a percentage deal on sales if they could use my name, but I never received a penny from it".
Of course today things would be different with all the sharks swimming around us...

This body looks great. Does anyone know the brand (or font) of the large black numbers used on the front of this body? These are the number liked to used back in the day.I saw Dennis Samson's Auto World Mclaren and had to have one so Dennis built me a 2-1/4" chassis and painted this Betta body for me! COOL!

They are original or copies of the 1970 Auto World 1/32 scale decal sheet. I could scan one if you need next time I go to the LASCM in Los Angeles.
