Because the Checkpoint Cup is getting nearer, we are opening this topic to make things as clear and transparent as possible for all to understand what will take place and if there will be any changes in regulations and procedures.

The D3 Board of Directors is currently busy to make the needed decisions on what changes if any, will be made in the way the meeting will be run. The calendar of events has already been posted by Keith Tanaka and this is unlikely to change. It is likely that there will be zero technical changes in the rules for most classes except for certain details regarding Retro Pro, we will keep you posted as soon as a vote has been taken on this matter, that regards rear tires diameter and clearance.

The tech inspection and race procedures will see minor changes that will soon be announced.

The D3 Board will communicate any and all changes as soon as possible and in plenty of time, so that all can prepare without any worries about what will take place on race day.
Thanks for your patience.

The NW contingent will setting up their castle and moat system at the Red Roof Inn in beautiful Buena Park, CA. :good: While a bit further to drive when making that mad dash to the track in time for sign-ups (who remembers 1970?? :o ), the quality/cost ratio is Much Better than a Motel 6. Great big rooms with working wi-fi, desks, etc. all to make the thrash more hospitable.

That is all...

I thought it would be fun to watch. I clicked on the track link and all I see is the lapcounter.

P.S. I just figured it out. It was offline. It's working fine now.

Thanks for watching the webcast.

Admittedly, the webcast was not as good as I hoped it would be. The lack of good upload internet speed at BPR is still a limiting factor even though they did improve the upload speed recently. Business internet service at BPR is expensive, so I don't know at this time how to get much higher bandwidth at BP without spending a lot of money (hundreds of dollars a month just for higher bandwidth).

Friday was the only day that I had access to a much higher upload speed using a separate cellular broadcast service (T-Mobile mobile broadband) than the normal BPR internet service. Unfortunately this service is expensive ($50 for 3 Gbps) and only lasted about 6 hours before using 3 Gbps!!!
Saturday and Sunday's webcast was limited to the more "basic" webcast quality which is ok for some, but not good enough to attract more viewers.

I intend to improve the quality of future webcasts from BPR, but it's all related to $$$ (lack of) as far as using better webcasting software and especially having a much higher upload internet speed available at BPR. It's too bad that BPR is not located in a area in which Verizon's FIOS is available. Verizon will never have FIOS in Buena Park since they do not have the rights to install fiber optic service in BP.

I believe this "could" be the beginning of hopefully a new era where those all over the world can view a slotcar event with image and sound quality which is good enough to attract a much larger viewership. Our hobby can use all the exposure it can get in order to keep it going or better yet, help it grow.

Thanks to our race sponsors and race prize donors. The raffle prize money generated at this year's Checkpoint will go to fund future webcasts (equipment, software, related webcast costs) as well as help pay for the annual expenses incurred to produce the online race reports (socald3.phanfare.com website, socald3.com website, smugmug video clip website, etc., etc.), podium and box plaques and race posters.

Thanks for your support,

Keith :)

p.s.- I hope to have the complete race/photo report done in two or three days!

I watched an hour or so Friday Keith. I t was addicting. Most important even with low bandwidth is the lap counter and sound. The webcast is a big deal and hope your improvements can get funded.

Thanks for all the hard work
