Smoky Mtn Retro Assoc is finally getting going again! It's been a very busy year for us. With me opening my new raceway and starting the FCR-NCS, it has been hard to schedule much. Things are settling in to where I can maintain instead of build and create. So with that being said, SMRA is firing back up!
Obviously, we have the IRRA™ Premier event in April, but before that we are going to try to have at least three events, with two of them being at East Tenn Model Raceway, so racers can prepare for the Smoky Mtn Shootout in April. The upcoming schedule is as follows:
Dec 10, 2011 - SMRA #4 - Central TN Raceway - Race order: GTC-PD, F1, Can-Am - Track opens at 7 AM, racing starts at 10 AM.
Jan 21, 2012 - SMRA #5 - East Tenn Model Raceway - Race order: GTC-PD, Stock Car, Can-Am - Track opens at 7 AM, racing starts at 10 AM.
March 31, 2012 - SMRA #6 - East Tenn Model Raceway - Race order: GTC-FK, F1, Can-Am - Track opens at 7 AM, racing starts at 10 AM.
April 27, 28, 29, 2012 - Smoky Mtn Southern Shootout
Race order:
Thursday - Open practice
Friday - JK Cup (Hand-out Hawk 7) - Stock Car
Saturday - GTC-FK (Hand-out TSR) - GTC-PD - F1
Sunday - Can-Am

Looking forward to Dec. 10 for all the Retro racers invading Central TN Raceway to race on "The Black Snake". One month away. Hope you guys can plan on coming to Lavergne and enjoying the fun! Updates will come later.

For you racers that haven't been there, Central Tennessee Raceway is a 165' Engleman located in LaVergne, TN, a few miles SE of Nashville off of I-24; only four hours from Indy, 2.5 from Louisville, 2.5 from Birmingham, 3.5 from Atlanta, 2.5 from Knoxville, four hours from Cincinnati, six hours from Columbus, OH and 38 hours from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I am working on my Retro stuff starting tonight! I got in a bunch of different tires for you and I to test. Will talk to you Tuesday night about them.
I need to start a roll call on who is planning on making the trip to try to tame "The Black Snake".

I am posting now. We have to move it back one week to Jan 21. I have an obligation I can't get out of.
We do have a motel deal. There is a Super 8, two miles from the track, right off interstate. Tell them you are here for East Tenn Model Raceway and you ahould get a room for $44.99. About 6-8 bucks off. Rick has stayed there, he said it was nice. Older hotel, but recently remodeled.

Getting close to the SMRA warm up race at East TN Model Raceway. Going to be a good time to get some testing and races on the track before the BIG race in April. Was wondering about what racers are planning on being there Jan. 21. Please post if you are going to try to attend!
PS: Take advantage of the deal Roger has with the Super 8 motel. I have stayed there a couple of times and it is a bargain. Clean rooms and a continental breakfast for $49.99.
