Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment? Or just a slot car fanatic?

We are opening a new raceway/hobby shop!

Speed Zone Hobbies
280 Crosstown Dr
Peachtree City, GA 30269
SpeedZonePTC@aol.com

We are a full line hobby shop, with a total of nine different slot car tracks in our possession. Our tracks range from an original Aurora HO scale Tub Track to a sweet 1/24 tri-oval/roadcourse!

Naturally, we'll have a full line of slot cars and accessories in all scales, as well as R/C cars, planes, and boats, as well as plastic models, model trains, and much, much more!

Just a few pics from a few weeks ago here:

Speed Zone

We'll have more details to come soon!

Yeah Arne, still lots to do! Seem the more I get done, the more I need to do! .

Marcus, feel free to hide there anytime! I'm hoping to be open by Christmas... we'll see if that happens. We'll probably have 5 tracks in operation at any one time. A couple tracks are slated to do shows, conventions and county fairs, etc, and may or may not see duty in the shop.

The painters are in the building, and we'll be doing the floor next week (I hope). Then Jobiwan and I can get to assembling tracks.

I'm sure looking forward to getting open for business!

We have made progress here at Speed Zone!

Most of the renovation inside is finished. The tracks are starting to be assembled. Things are coming together, albeit slower than anticipated. (As usual, set a goal, then mutiply the time factor by at least 2). :shok:

The proposed plan:

George,

I drove down to see Speed Zone last Saturday and they've still got a lot of work to do.

My personal guesstimate is 90 days or so, though if it can happen sooner, I know it will.

George... we've been busting our tails here at Speed Zone. We've made a good bit of progress since Greg came to visit!

I'm hoping to get the doors kicked open in about three-four weeks. The interior renovation is completed, and the other tracks, showcases, and sales counter will be in place by the end of this week.

Wiring of the Grandstand II and the Royal is underway, as well as refinishing the borders. Rebraiding should commence next week.

I will have some updated photos posted soon.

Thanks, Ben!

We plan on running Retro here soon. We'll see what the interest is, we may do a weekly Retro race. For sure at least a "once a Month" Retro race would be fine with me!

We're hoping to secure a slot somewhere for a sanctioned Retro series race. Stay tuned!

I cant wait to get a Wing car on the Grandstand track. I am sure that is going to be a blast.

And as for the Retro cars I hope you all have a Retro class. I want to start running them as well.

George, we are planning on running Retro and $100 wing cars, and stamped steel classes. Mostly likely others too, as interest dictates.

All seven tracks are in place right now, and we will to start braiding the Grandstand II and the Royal next week. The Lazy 8 and 1/32 Delphi road course are up and running.

I'll be posting some updated pics later.

Jeff,

Great looking raceway you've got going on! The Grandstand is a fun track, a lot like a Kinglemann. I've never seen a Roval before. I'll bet Retro would be a blast on that track, especially when it's configured as a road course.

Hope to get down to see it someday. Keep up the good work!

Sorry about the lack of updates. I've been pretty busy here at Speed Zone, and haven't had much time to get on the computer!!!

Things are coming right along! Six of the seven tracks are up and running, and the Trackmate systems hopefully will arrive late next week.

I've been waiting to post pics until we get things a little more organized, and I hope to do a photo shoot this weekend.

I'm hoping by the end of the month or very early April we'll kick the doors open for business, but we'll just have to see.

Here's a pic of a couple folks trying out the Lazy 8:

Ralph...

Still a few things to work out, see my reply to the other post today. Thank you for your diligence on the driver's panels. You did a fine job. They are seamlessly integrated with our color design. Many visitors have mentioned we look corporate in our presentation and asked if this was a franchise. It is a compliment to your efforts, as well as ours.

Stop by when you get a chance... power is on!!!

lot has been going on since I've been there last.

I know many of us can't wait until the racing starts at Speed Zone PTC.

I must concede to Cheater... We missed my projected deadline!

We got our timing systems in a couple weeks ago... and they were the wrong ones. :dash2:

The correct ones should be shipping shortly.

The tracks are all in place, and up and running, with fine tuning and details being crossed of the list every day. Pit and party tables are in place. Inventory is going in. The parts wall and displays are being filled. We're getting closer every day.

I'm not projecting an opening date at this time, (since all my predictions have been blown out of the water so far!) but we will be opening ASAP, and I'll let you all know before we kick the doors open for business.

This is one of the most amazing slot car places that I have ever seen. We had some places back in the 60's that had several tracks, but SpeedZone tops them!!!!!! Best of luck. I got to put together a 3 day weekend and get up there.
