Just behind the rat rod lies what used to be an uninspiring empty spot on the layout...
Posted Image

You know, the kind of place that just collects junk. And cats (if you have them). Anyway, my spot was also the home of a steel post to hold a platform supporting the laptop.

Posted Image

And then, sometimes you can't just leave well enough alone... and you have to tinker with things.
So I got some hardboard at the depot, and put together some pit garages to fill the space, keep some dust off cars I don't know what to do with, and hide the pole.
Posted Image

The bottom deck is wood flooring. The third bay in from the right is where the pole goes. I just ripped up some strips on the table saw and glued them all together.

Some various shades of greys and blacks.

Posted Image

And had to add some lighting, of course!

Posted Image

Found some pdf files I could alter for some quickie interiors.

And some other useless details...

And some greenery...

The rock is made from expanding foam... but that's a whole other posting for when you are reeeeeaaaaly bored!

Stan, how about showing us some up-close photos of this rat rod & it's details? I'm interested in its chassis. I once had the double AMT model kit that had this chopped 1925 Model "T" body. I no longer have it, but I believe this kit has been reissued once or twice since then. :)

That must be the kit I used as well-- one of the newer versions. It's not a custom chassis or anything like what guys make on the forum here.
Posted Image

The idea came from Steve H. in our club for a possible new class to race. Start with a Sprints Plus kit, and then cut and lengthen the chassis with tubing...
Posted Image

Indy fronts, and non-scale sprints rears. S-7 motor makes 'em fly pretty good.

Very unusual look for our club... but cool. :sun_bespectacled:

Thanks for the additional photos Stan! Those Sprint Plus chassis get a lot of modifications to fit specific applications. I have the chassis, a Slick 7 motor, & a cut-down '34 Ford body. The gears are a grinding. Thanks. :)

Under construction, not going to run foams, these old school sillys look too cool. I need a longer 1/8th" threaded axle, have to shop ED. The motor is a Ford Cosworth DFV from a trashed 1/20th F-1 model car.
