Here's an article about the 1968 NAMRA Regional Championship for 1/32 F1 at Charle's track.

Fred, Very cool. Although this all happened here on Long Island I was born a little too late to know of these races and the participants. Must have been a really fun although very competitive group. Those little cars are like pieces of fine hand made jewelry. Do you know of any of the cars that survived. Would love to see pics of that vintage craftsmanship.

None of my cars survived but I'll email Roy and see if he saved any 1/32 stuff. Roy and I both ran hand carved balsa Honda's for that race with very hot winds that were rockets! Point and punch!!!

Hi, Believe it or not, I had a dream about Charlie Cressi and that basement track last week. Those were fun days. I remember I ran a balsa carved Eagle (by Frank O'Connor) bodied car at one of the races there. Charlie, Ned and Charlie's nephew (can't remember his name-Curt?- but I think he went to MIT) were very hard to beat there. And remember, with four lanes there were only 4 people in the finals. Sandy

Sandy, Roy and I carved our own bodies for this race since you had to order 1/32 F1 bodies from England. Mine was a blob!
