Jim Watterson said today that BPR would be open at 9 AM Tuesday through Thursday to accommodate practice for the Checkpoint Cup.

More time to trash perfectly good cars!! :laugh2:

Hi, Bryan,

It is a nice surprise!!

I thought BPR would not open until Wednesday afternoon. I am arriving at LAX on 09:55 in the morning (Tuesday), eleven hours from now.

Plenty of time to practice for the Checkpoint Cup, but I will have to be very careful not to break the cars before the race :shok: .

Looking forward to seeing you very very soon,

I confirmed with Debby, who is now a full-time BPR employee (besides co-owning the joint :) ) that indeed, the raceway will be open from 9 AM to normal closing time, to allow all of you out-of-towners to destroy your cars before the actual event! :laugh2:

The King track was cleaned and prepped by BPR employee Greg, and according to the ones who drove on it after, is perfect.

The flat track will be cleaned and prepped today and hopefully, will be in perfect fettle by Friday with no need for more attention.

As an observer, it might help to conserve precious pit space to leave your machine shop and museum at home :) Anything over three levels high may tip over. :o

Good idea for a generous racer(s) to provide a full time iron and Dremel tool and a Hudy, too.

Thank you to Jim and Debby Watterson for the recent improvements to Buena Park Raceway. The addition of new speakers, the new switchable monitors and the new monitors themselves, along with the recently-painted flooring have made for a much-improved raceway. It is now much brighter inside, much easier to see with the addition of the monitor over the back pit tables by the flat track, improving being able to follow what is going on in qualifying and in racing.

As always, a big thanks to Greg and Jeff who are on hand to lend a hand to anyone coming in the door. Thanks again for opening today so that out-of-town racers will be able to practice on the two tracks, and for having Greg prep the tracks so that we have good surfaces for racing this weekend.

With the new D3 board overseeing this weekend's festivities, we all should be in for a good time. Thank you all for your efforts, let's all race and have fun, and keelhaul the cheaters for all to see... PRICELESS.

The Flatster should have plenty of rubber laid down for Friday.

I have arrived in LA and been to BPR to say hello to Greg.

It is very nice to be home again.

I will be there tomorrow, hopefully in the morning, overcoming jet-lag.
