Just been getting into slot racing the past few months. Started with an FCR and a Flexi-2.

Bought a GT car and ran this week but the highlight was getting to drive a wing car. I never thought i would like them becasue they didn't look like a real car. Three of us made a few laps running side by side and was it an adrenalin rush! Now I have to find a decent inexpensive used one to play with.

Too many cars and so little time.

Wings are so much fun to race.
I hope they make a comeback.
You have to get the body right to make them work but they are worth the effort.
Even a Falcon or Hawk 7 car is a blast to race.

I think wing cars are great.

They're not my cup of tea but I understand their appeal.

They are all part of the same great hobby: model car racing, normally termed slot racing.

It may seem silly but it really is important that we view the slot racing hobby from this perspective.

Like you, I didn't think much of wing cars way back when, but I share your enthusiasm over the adrenalin involved and am hopelessly hooked.

Bob,

I like racing wing cars better than other types of slot cars because they are fast and the racing is very intense. I race against Randy and others at Buena Park Raceway located in Orange County, California. I think that the faster cars are more fun to drive than the slower ones.

Hey Bob, although all types of slot cars are pretty cool, the wing cars have always been my first love. First time i saw one I knew that was the toy I wanted to play with. Nothing like the rush caused by 8 cars running sub 2 second laps for 8 heats.

Hope you find a way to get more involved around your way.

Wing Cars is what keeps bringing me back to racing. I have raced all types of wings, my favorite though is the Box 12. It is fast but does not have the high cost that some wing racing has. When you race a scale car some people will watch for a second. When you put on a good wing car everyone will watch that car. Wing cars have gotten people into slot car racing that have never even driven one.

Im with Randy, when I 1st got into slot cars I wasnt too impressed with wing cars, mainly racing Nascar-GT12. Then a little pushing by Chris Radisich and Monty Ohren, I was racing in Spec 15 at the 05 Nats at Buena Park Raceway. Never stopped racing wing cars since I still try to find time to race scale classes as much as I can also.

James, its the thrill of going sub 2 seconds that keeps you coming back! All slot cars are fun but the fast ones are that much more fun. and we all know the facts that anyone can drive a wing car but their totally different animals with 8 of them on the track.

I agree with all of the above wing car racers that racing with seven other cars going under 2 seconds is not that easy. It is difficult to drive ahead of your own car and not hit other cars. I believe that the best wing racers watch for wrecks and try to not hit any car on their lane. Good luck with your wing car.
