Finished February 2012:

post-91-0-49518400-1328384352.jpg

Here's where it all started:

Not intending this for proxy or competition, just for show and go.
Is this an Astro body ? Not sure. It is real sexy, and whoever painted it did a great job. Wheel wells were already trimmed when I got it, so pardon me if they are not centered. I will build a car to fit what I have in front of me. As opposed to a frontal lobotomy

Motor will be a Classic Havlicek 26D. :D Jig motor is a stock 26D.
Bracket is a 26D by Cobra, braced and duffied. :bomb:
Here we go..........

WOW!! Pablo :D

That's one of the original ones I did from 2006- made a few strides with molding the canopy too lol. I think I did 4-5 different versions :wacko2: of this Pactra Jupiter.

Cool looking Astro Rob :good:

All jiggyed up. Wheels will both be about .875, set screw Russkit replicas.
Tom Andersen inserts. ProSlot ball bearings. Jet Flag, Cobra tongue floated on a chunk of .063 by .750 brass strip.
WB 3 7/8, GL 5/8
Chassis will be a Team Nutley/Tony P style, full plumber. Just like the Super Slammer, only this time I have curved body sides to deal with. :o

Now, where is that doggone belt sander ? :laugh2:

hahahaha just the approx. cutoff place, Rob. The pic was just a mockup. The drop arm/tongue assembly is done now and it ends up about .355" in front of the front of the (jig) motor. No secrets here, just the basics.

Drop arm done, Rob.
Two brass rod rails and one piano wire rail, all .063. :D
The innermost brass rail is spaced inward with 3 sections of .055 wire, to make a guide for the drop arm, and to make a bigger nest area for solder to pool where the plumbing and drop arm hinge will sit. I learned to nestle rods tight to a drop arm to minimize slop from studying a Foamy retro F1 car that I repaired for Greg Gilbert. :victory:

Sorry, Brian, I had to make a change. I used .063 wire instead. Nothing personal, you are still my best vintage friend :D

Outriggers consisting of four angled .063 brass rods per side are done. Plumber rods and hinges are in place. Brass sure is fun to work with ! :)
