So, she has Alpha naturals.
By the way, the body is a Kirby Ferrari 312 by Victor.
Track test in a month or so.

I can only speak from my experience on Eddie's Blue King with these vintage open monsters . The only time my fresh Riggen orange rubber will hook up is if a wing car race has just finished and the track has been glued. Otherwise the Riggen's will spin all the way down the straight.
So....for me, at Eddie's, I run modern Alpha wheels and tires and for display I use period wheels with Riggen orange rubber.
As always, you're results may vary .

While I agree with ol'Dokk that you need orange rubber ( I have a set you can use for display if you need) the real car probably went through many rear tires before being retired.
(Got it really low too, way to go)

PDL,Pablo,
If I may make a recommendation here, unless you can get a genuine Faas or Parma gear sleeve, do not use the K&S brass tubing to make one because its diameter is too small and you are going to end with a wobbly gear. Instead use K&S aluminum tubing because it appears to be larger and also tighter on the axle. This is what I use for my retro cars crown gears and it has worked well.
I just checked the 1/8" K & S aluminum tubing I have in stock and it's super sloppy on a 3/32" axle.
Unless it somehow pinches in after you shove it in a gear, I can't possibly see how it's better than brass for a sleeve.

Greg Gilbert, myself, John Clow, and Billy Watson all took a few hot laps today with the car.
Runs great !!! Handling is super, hooks up and drives very very nice.
It is fast on 12 volts, so I think at 13 V it would probably smoke the tires without glue
Back in the vintage box for a looong nap.
Mission accomplished. Thanks again for all the help, guidance, and support, I could never have done this without my Slotblog friends !!

Mike,
Once the aluminum tubing is pressed into the gear, it tightens quite a bit and the gear is no longer sloppy. I have run my retro cars from 2006 to the time Parma got off their torpor and actually made sleeved gears, and I would thing that gear mesh has definitely not be an issue for me, with one of the quietest running cars on the retro circuit.
Now I still use K&S tubing from old stock I retained from the 1970s, so it is possible that today's tubing may be of a different spec...
Of course nothing beats a properly machined brass sleeve, that's for sure.
Interestingly, my older gears with aluminum sleeve are still in service after many, many races, and are still the smoothest gears I have on hand, the older they get, the better they appear to be!
