The week of January 23, the Viper Pit Raceway played host to legendary track maker Ed Tunkel, his lovely wife, Karol, and their son, Chris.
The Tunkel family came to the V.P. on a single mission: to rework all the tracks at the raceway, which has been open only a little over two years. This action demonstrates V.P. owner Aaron Scott’s dedication to offering the very best racing experience to all his customers.
The Tunkels wasted no time upon arrival and immediately set to work - first on the Engelman, then the blue King, followed by the orange. The Engelman and orange tracks were completely re-braided, with the orange track being completely disassembled for complete inspection. All three tracks were completely adjusted at each section to guarantee the smoothest and quickest possible driving experience.
As a result of the Tunkels efforts the Viper Pit now boasts a trio of classic tracks, with each track being in unmatched overall condition. All Viper Pit fans owe Ed, Karol, and Chris a huge thank you!
During their stay at the Viper Pit Raceway, Aaron, Ralph, and many locals got a chance to meet the Tunkels and appreciate what a family of honest, hard-working folk they are. The Tunkels were so open and unassuming that any visitor immediately felt at ease.
Bottom-line, the cast and crew of the Viper Pit Raceway are indebted to Ed and his family for turning a great raceway into a superb one.
Ed Tunkel may be reached through his WEBSITE. Additional pictures of the Tunkels' visit to the V.P. are available at the Viper Pit's PHOTO GALLERY.

The tracks, IMO, were already nice, and a tune-up is always great!
I am tuning up my cars for 3 March!!

Ed and Karol built my King track back in the early '90s. It was without a doubt the best King track on the east coast at the time. They do great work and are fantastic people. Keep up the great work, Ed and Karol.

Does anyone have current contact information for Ed and Karol? Everything that I have tried (including the above website) has been a dead end. Thank You.

He built the Oval at ASCR. See if Clyde knows how to contact him.

The 4-lane "Mini Orange" club/home track I've been running on for the past five years is a Tunkel Bros. track. You won't get any argument from me about them building a quality product.
