If you've not been watching the happenings at the R4/5 Retro race at Tom Thumb Hobbies in Columbus, OH, you're missing probably the best slot racing webcast to date.

Live timing via Lapmaster appears alongside a very sharp Ustream feed with perfect sound (which has been a problem with a lot of previous webcasts including my own).

Here's a link:

R4/5 Webcast

Today is GT Coupe, Saturday is F1, and Sunday is Can-Am.

66 entries for GT Coupe today and I'm betting Saturday and Sunday will see even higher numbers.

I just watched the last four heats of the F1 A Main at the R4/5 from my hotel room in Kingsland, GA, and sat transfixed as Cap Henry squeaked out a win over the evil Ron Hershman (LOL!) by never blinking, not even once.

What a hell of a slot car race! If you didn't watch this race, go to Ustream and see if was recorded, If so, you really ought to play it and watch it. You'll almost never see a better slot car race.

Mike McMasters and Carsten Groennemann have collaborated to create the best slot racing video streaming I've ever seen. And the racing is as good as anywhere in the world.

That's a strong claim, I admit. Just watch the Can-Am racing tomorrow (the link is in the first post) and if you don't think so, then you can tell me I'm fulla feces...

LOL!!

That was one hell of a run by Cap. I'm sure glad that when I quit racing Retro I gave him my good motors!!! LOL!

Great job by all in the A Main and some good turn marshaling by everyone also.

That was fun to watch.

About five minutes after the race ended, I called Jay Guard to tell him his chrome dome was causing a bunch of glare in the video stream, because he was standing under the camera for part of the race. Can't give my partner in crime any slack, youi know... LOL!!

I told him to tell Cap I wanted him to call me soon and Jay said, "Wait a sec," and handed the phone to Cap! Who proceeded to grant me the first victory lane interview after his great win.

Man, I hate not being there...

Tex,

You didn't see the Ustream video feed? Only the Lapmaster stats display. Is that what you're saying?

Yes. Initially, I wasn't logged in and thought that was the problem. I went to UStream and got my password reset and was then able to login successfully but still didn't see any video. Maybe I'm missing a "codec"; I seem to recall that as a necessary piece from previous video experiences. I installed a new harddrive a few months ago and I'm sure some software bits and pieces aren't there any more.

I'm pretty sure I saw his name in the list of F1 entrants.

Oh man, That breaks my heart, Shadow is one of those GREAT guys. I learned a lot from him while he was living in Texas!
