I have a question for you,
Looking to see if any one made there own tire truer and if so how did you do it?
Really can't afford a new one and really need some thing more reliable than just my drill and sandpaper to keep things square.
Any help is greatly needed.
Paul

They look the same
Ron, this occasionally will happen if you take a bathroom break in the middle of a post. It's called double posting.

"Drive it like you're in it!!!"
"If everything feels under control... you are not going fast enough!"
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Too sophisticated...Just some old parts and tin plate - used for 20 years. At last a Camen that not blows in 5 minutes...
Man thats one crude looking contraption..makes me wonder what his CARS looked like ..lol

Here's two I made. One pretty simple the other more complex.
rick made me one like the top pcture 2 yeas ago when i first started racing ..i used it a long time .it made very true tires ..i just had to keep measuring a lot to get 2 the same size .the stop wasnt real =real accurate ...man it worked fine and id sugest to anyone build one like that if its the level of truer your wanting to make.

What kind of motor can be used for a home made tire truer and where can I get a motor? Thanks for any help on this
An R/C motor would be my first choice. Just a stock cheap one which can be found at most hobby stores.

Did you ever make a tire true that you could put in a dremel tool and/or drill ?? A really old school simple method lol.

I constructed this from a plaque, a bathroom fan motor, some bearings, wire, brass and screws.
the axle is replaceable so I can true up 1/8th, 3/32th, threaded 1/8th and cox taper axle wheel.
Simply loosening the collar fitting is all that is needed to replace the axle.
After the rim and tire are fitted, the donut is cut down to rough diameter. with an xacto blade and then trued up with this sanding board. The board is held parallel by the base of the plaque and thus the tire ground true.
The motor is not very powerful so the amount taken off is very slight. A dial indicator is used to measure the tire periodically to ensure that the correct diameter is achieved before dismounting.
Not elegant, but been very useful for 15 or 20 years.
Classic rock and a cold beer (not shown) are very useful aids.
