I hope this is the correct forum to post this question. I did a search but was not able to find answers to my questions.

I saw an ad for a Scalextric 1:32 Scale Slot Racing Set - Nascar Speedway track for sale. Would anyone know if we can run our 1/24 scale cars on this track please? Would the guide flag fit in the slot or would it have to be shortened in height? Can our commercial track controllers work with this system?

Thank you for your responses.

Not the best choice as the track is too narrow and the guide depth is too shallow.

Try Carrera track.

Ernie,

Mike's right. Carrera makes a home set for 1/24 scale cars. The lane spacing on the 1/32 isn't wide enough for 1/24.

You should be able to pick up a used Carrera set at a reasonable price but just make sure it's 1/24 scale, as they make both scales.

As kids we were driving 1/24s on 1/43 Jouef track...but we used alternate slots, we had 6 lanes...

Also, if you're using jet flags they will probably be too wide for the Scalex slot.

We have had vintage races on a Ninco 6-lane track and amazingly enough there was enough room for most of the cars, but the modern guides would get stuck. Ninco may be a bit wider than Scalex track, but not sure...

Ninco lane spacing is much wider than that of Scalextric but is a copy of the OLD Scalextric with "rocky" surface and very shallow and narrow slot. At least and unlike the Scalextric track, the slot is lined with plastic and not by the contact rails. Neither is really any good for anything in my opinion, as both have RAISED rails above the track surface, a design feature by an IDIOT. Track connections are of poor design too, allowing "steps" between sections.
The Carrera track is a copy of the older and great American tracks by Monogram, Revell, Atlas and Aurora, all that were designed by people who actually understood what was needed for proper operation. Smooth surface, flush and FLAT rails, great smooth connections.
Do yourselves a favor and DUMP your Ninco or Scalextric tracks and get yourselves some Carrera bits. Your cars (from HO to 1/24 scales) with thank you.

Thank you for the responses.

I am looking for an inexpensive home plastic track that I could just test my cars and wanting the track to accommodate the depth of the 1/24 scale guide flag. No home racing against anyone - except maybe my wife - ahaha! I'm gonna look for a used Carrera set.

By the way Dokk,

I saw an Eldon Big 100 Slot Car track for sale. It doesn't state what the scale is. From my research I presume it is a 1/32 scale track?! Would this be a track accommodate the 1/24 scale car guide?

The ad does not give much detail other than "the box is worn but everything is there".

Thank you.

Ernie,
I think I'd stick to Carrera because you know you can get parts such as extra track sections, power packs, ect for it anytime you choose. I could be wrong, but I believe the Eldon you mention above is a 1/32nd track.

Ernie,
Eldon's track has a very shallow slot and lousy and sharp rail ends that cut instantly into the braided contacts. I tried my best to fix that track when I was working at Cox, getting new rails with curved soft ends made. But please stick to Carrera, as it is relatively inexpensive and does the job. While its slot is deeper than any of the mickey-mouse tracks out there (Ninco-Scalex-SCX etc..), the commercial guides are 1/16" too deep and will need to be trimmed. Better than cutting half of their blade as needed for the other tracks... :)

Carrera is IT. Don't even THINK of investing in the other stuff.

The track itself is the same in both 1/24 and 1/32 sets, only the cars and power paks are different, if you were planning to buy a set it wont matter unless you have a preference for the cars.

He was possibly thinking of the Carrera "Go" 1/43 scale track... :)
Ernie, make sure that the track you get is the Carrera "Exclusiv", not the "Go".
