Jarius panted this body for me over a year ago. I was going to use it for a different project, but... projects > time = JW body cut to fit this chassis. I kind of felt bad cutting the body so much to fit this chassis, but maybe he'll be kind enough to spray a few more for me in the future! :)

Anyways, I drafted this chassis, and then squirted it out on the ol' hydrajet at work. Wanted to make a vintage style dragster with a Pittman motor. It's VW Beetle bodied, with a suicide front axle, a blown V8, and headers blowing out the front fender wells. This is what I came up with:

Wire up the guide, wheels on the wheelie bar, mount the body, and she's done.

Here's a parting shot with it and the ol' Dynamic Delivery in my display case, as well as a couple other cars:

Very cool! Ask the manager at the track to turn up the power to 36 volts and shred some rubber like they did in the old days :) That chassis is great. Can you make other parts if you have the specs? Can you make parts from magnesium stock ? Would love to see the K&B or Russkit chassis remade. Could you make a copy from an actual chassis?

I can cut about anything on the hydrajet at work, it's just a matter of finding time too. Another guy at the shop normally runs the machine, I'm too busy with the design work. Sometimes it takes a couple test cuts to get it dialed in, the machine is huge and better at cutting larger parts for 1:1 cars. I make it work for me though.
It's pretty easy to copy a chassis. measure it, draft it out, convert the dxf to cnc, and make a test cut. FInding the time is the hard part!
I've never cut magnesium, but I'm sure there's a feed rate setting for it in my hydrajet software.

Thanks everyone! I just sit around and think up this stuff, but too busy doing 1:1 cars/renderings for customers to get many of my slot and R/C projects completed. :(

The bus body on the ol' Dynamic Delivery is from a re-release of the Revell "California Roller" VW bus-
Posted Image
I had a couple in my stash of VW stuff and thought it would be cool to use. And since I will apparently never ever ever ever find an "International" VW BUS....
Posted Image
....I figured I'd give one of the CA Roller's the slot treatment.
Looking back, I wish I had sanded off the rear fender flares, but too late now!

There was a guy named Mark Adams who re-popped the K&B chassis a few years back and sold them on Ebay...I have a couple with Pittmans and also a couple with Kemtrons. Never have found a 36v strip yet, however! They are still a lot of fun, however.

That Bug is fantastic. Let's see some 12v ETs on that thing!

David,
