Was going through some old 35mm slides. I took this photo of Riverside Raceway from a Piper Archer, N44512 at 9,500 ft MSL on my way from Long Beach to the Grand Canyon, June, 1978.

Does anyone else have personal aerial shots of other well-known race tracks?

Appears you weren't there that day.

What a loss to the Sou Cal racing community. Now just houses, and houses- and a few undocumenteds, no doubt.

Todd,

That IS a great shot! I know some guys on another forum that would like to see it; may I post it on that other forum?

Looks like nobody was there... Must have been a Tuesday...
The AFM, CMC and other racing clubs were racing there at least once a month. The rest of the time we were at Orange County, Ontario, Sears Point, Las Vegas... :)
I was racing there in the very last race ever held, it was a vintage event by VR. Raced my Chevron B34. At the end of the day, that was IT.

may I post it on that other forum?

They would love to see this pic on the Nostalgia Forum. :)

Todd,

No, I was referring to a forum for enthusuasts of a PC-based racing game called "Grand Prix Legends"(GPL). The original game is/was based on the 1967 F-1 season. The original game had only 11 tracks; now there are around 500 tracks and most are historical representations of real tracks "back in the day". Virtually all GPL'ers are ga-ga about the history of racing and racing legends whether drivers, cars or tracks. We've all driven the virtual Riverside and are sad about many such historical tracks no longer being around. I bet they'd dearly love to see that picture.
