Hay Billy these are anglewinder , correct ?These cars are going to be fast and exciting on two of the fastest kings in the country. The Mason Dixon Retro Championship will still consist of Can Am, GTC (PD) and F1 races. We hope to post our 2012-2013 Mason Dixon Retro schedule by June with the opener in October. Mason Dixon Retro Pro cars will be an exciting addition to the series. Thanks Dale !

I hope this works out well for your series.. This might just prove to some others that Retro Pro/ Anglewinder will not be the End of Retro..
Sorry to pick this thread to ask, but just for my own information... would someone please tell me how a stamped brass Cheetah 11 is retro? OK, it's a kit and I would have soldered it together, but it doesn't strike me as "retro" in any real sense. And if inline power train arrangement is the determining factor, will someone explain how bodies through 1969 are legal when the anglewinder chassis arrived in early 1968? And while I'm at it... how retro is using a motor that can't be worked on? Why don't we just call it MLC (Mid Life Crisis) or AHOF (Arthritis Handicapped Old Farts)? I've run a few "retro" events lately and it's missing something.
PS: I'm 63, my thumbs are a little achy, and I need a magnifier to see what I'm working on.

Take a pill, then a nap. Everything will be OK...
This subject has been covered at least a hundred times.
These are not 'vintage' cars, or exact reproductions of what was raced in the mid-60s...
'Retro' is a modern racing class based on the 'spirit' of how racing was in the mid-60s.
The rules governing IRRA racing are are geared for the racing being conducted in the present era.
And, I must say it is fairly popular. At the regional Penn-Ohio Series race this past weekend there were 35 racers and 98 entries.
Things are just fine...

As far as this class, you can work on your own motors! And I do not know why the brass car is legal either, but I think the scratch built cars will be faster. So build one, or buy one. Come race with us. It's gonna be a blast.
I just finished a motor. Chassis next, I guess.

Perhaps I'll have that level of skill someday (I do love building). For now, I'll have to see if I can find a Skunkwinder...............name='SteveDee' timestamp='1335929100' post='410315']
At least half the fun of this class and all the retro classes as well, is designing and building your own chassis. Got an idea? Build it! If it don't work, recycle the parts and try again. This is how innovation happens and is what put the spark in racing in the grand old days. These classes are about the only ones left that an individual can build and race their own chassis, even with the available kit cars there are as many ways of putting them together as there are builders, you just can't be afraid to try.
