Announcing Retro South!

You have seen here on the blog that there seems to be a lot of interest in this, so we have decided to bite the bullet and try to bring Retro racing back to the South.
Myself (Roger Holtsclaw) and Ralph Thorne will be the co-directors and we will have an advisory board that we use to bounce ideas off of so Ralph and I can make the final decision on any question that arises.
We will follow IRRA rules 100%.
The plans are to run Can-Am, F1, and for a third race, rotate between Stock Car, and GTC-FK.
There will be a points system, with one drop built in and a double points race in the middle of the season.
The website will be up and running by mid-week. We are working on schedule now.
That brings us to two questions:
1. Would you guys like to see this start ASAP, as in the last week of May or wait until the third week of June?
2. What tracks would you like to see in the series? Racers should post their desired raceways, and raceway owners should post their desire to host a race. There are two-three raceways that are locks already, but our plans are to run five races per season. We don't want to post those tracks yet, so we won't skew the results of the question.
We are going to move swiftly on this, so please don't hesitate to post!
We will have the series email up at the same time as the site, then we can begin receiving your emails.
Thanks to you all, can't wait to hear from you!!
Roger Holtsclaw

I know you will get a great turn-out at 'Slots of Fun' in Abbeville... not to mention a host that does everything to make the racers feel welcome.

Please remember that Retro Slots at Abbeville is on the first Saturday of the month and has been since its inception three years ago.

We are well aware of when Retro Slots races are being held. It is not our goal to compete with existing Retro series. We want to work with local tracks and series to help grow Retro.
Chris, the schedule is being worked on right now. We are trying to keep the race dates on the third or fourth Saturday of the month. It all depends on existing races, raceway availability, and holidays.
If you or anyone else has any suggestions we would love to hear them.

Great to see Retro growing more and more in the South.
Just throwing this out there, Gator Region Retro currently has the month of October open without any scheduled events. What do you guys think about holding a Retro South/GRRR combo event at The Viper Pit in Thomasville, GA, at the end of the October?
I'm pretty sure Aaron would love to have us back and I would think it could turn into quite an event.

I am fine with how you are handling the schedule.
As Don said, the group in Abbeville have been running together for a good while. It is a small group, but we have had some new racers in the recent races. The racing in Abbeville is some of the most enjoyable racing I have been in - mainly for the friendship of the group. Everyone tries to help each other, and with the handicap package we are using, everyone is vying for the win each race.
I would like to invite everyone to come on the first Saturday of the month. This weekend is F1 and Can-Am. We expect to have a great time as usual.

I am planing trips to Talledaga for some of their races and Abbeville with John Forester so this just gives us more excuses to get there.
I am just glad to see someone getting something going.

Give me a call when you plan to make the trip to Talledaga. I've been wanting to check that place out.
