The parts counter and race directors stand, with Brian Cox thrashing in his pits at bottom right.
A pensive Jay Guard, with his pit in the foreground.
Ron Hershman and Ralph Thorne.
Tim Ketron.
The always-helpful Pam (whose last name I didn't get); she accompanied Ralph Thorne at the Shootout.
Pennsylvania's John "Johnny VW" Streisguth, who had a pretty good Shootout.
Bobby Robinson from AL, who also had a very good Shootout.
John "J.C." Martin from South Nashville, who seems to be taking a liking to Retro racing.
Gil Gundersen from Antioch, TN. Gil's been racing slots since electricity was invented...

James Merriman
Spencer Hurst, one of a couple of fifteen-year-old phenoms who raced well at Shootout 1.
Roger Holtsclaw, the man who made it happen.

Ron Hershman... no caption required! LOL!

Wally Fleming. Wish I had a pic of Wally from twenty years ago to post... he had hair way down his back!

Gary "Hip" Culy from Hagerstown, MD. Another racer who'll be remembering the first Shootout for a good while.
The Concours King, Joe "Noose" Neumeister.
The Shootout "Top Gun", Jay Guard of Anniston, AL, cheater's traveling companion and SERRA co-director.
Da cheater hisself, Greg Wells of Norcross, GA.
Georgia's Tommy Flythe, who finds Retro just as much fun as wing car racing.
Long-term wing racer Wally Fleming from Nashville, who didn't race but accompanied Tommy for "immoral support"
Tom Thumb Hobbie's Mike McMasters, on a rare road trip away from the store.
Mike's better half, Cindy McMasters. They claim this was their first trip sans kids since they started having them! Wow!
Spokane, WA's Ken Bryan and New Zealand's Chris Radisich. Since Chris now lives in Milford, PA, Ken was the winner of the Shootout's "Longest Distance" award.
Barney Bradley.
Mark Griffith with his hands in the air.
Cody Eads in the foreground (who took 11th in Can-Am using a TSR motor!) with the way-too-cute Angelina Holtsclaw holding down her raceway snack counter, Angelina's Pit Stop, in the background.

Haven't seen Wally or Tommy for quite some time. Nice to see them in Retro...

Ken actually gave me these pics before I left the Shootout but for a variety of reasons, I simply haven't found the time to get them uploaded. It didn't help that I downloaded them to a flash drive at work and then forgot to bring it home over the weekend.
Sorry, Ken, and thanks for stepping up to cover for my slackness.
I am also going to merge the three picture threads into a single topic.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Ken Bryan deserves all the credit, for taking the pics and especially for getting them posted when I was taking so long to get it done.
Thanks also to Roger Holtsclaw for helping me with a few of the names I couldn't pull out of my aging brain.
The Shootout was a really good Retro race, especially for a first effort. One well-known racer in attendance indicated that he had so much fun he was going to attend next year even if it meant dropping one of the other established IRRA Premier Events from his travel schedule to do so. That's a pretty strong testimonial in my book.
