Thanks to Matt Azzara for allowing me to scan his copy of the 1972 Grundy Gazette Annual issue, it's a part of slot car racing's history of the early 70's.

SCAN0084_l.jpg

This newsletter which originated from San Francisco was compiled and edited by Al Chuck (Owl Chump).
I wasn't familiar with this newsletter since I was out of slots by 1969, but it's always a pleasure to read the old slot car publications
from those early days. I thought it would be nice to present this old publication online for everyone to see again. There's some familiar racers from the past who are still racing slot cars today.

Here's the link to the 1972 Grundy Gazette: http://socald3.phanfare.com/5594965#imageID=157699357

Some of the pages (mainly for race reports) have very small handwritten type and are difficult to read. You can download those pages to your computer and enlarge the image. The enlarged image/text is easy to read.

Enjoy,

Keith :)

That's a very interesting read. Keith. The pages I've already blown up each have some good information on them. Thanks for posting this. :)

What page had the explanation for how computers work? I think it ended by saying they divide using majic. I have actually used the explanation in one of the classes I use to teach.

Amazingly enough, my name made an appearance in that issue (SCAN0137) - but I had to pay for it to be there...

Great memories!

Now: As previously announced, Phanfare.com has been permanently shut down.

So, no Grundy available over there. (Searching for PdL pic...)

Luckily in Archive.org:

I have all the originals that were donated to me in the 1980's by Steve "Spiderman" Kessler. But they need a lot of repair as the glue used to attach the many collages has dried up. No time now. Maybe never.

Since "Phanfare.com" no longer exists online, I moved the SoCalD3 photos/reports to our new Smugmug website.
Here's the link to the Grundy Gazette issue originally located on our old Phanfare website:
