Making a chassis for the 1:24 Hasegawa Honda RA272E for my friend Stephen for a Retro/Vintage race in the UK

Posted Image

After a chaotic start, things are beginning to take shape

Posted Image

I ended up with this chassis which can use both Fox 10 and Scalectric slimline motors and 3/32" axles

Posted Image

Posted Image

The chassis has a drop arm and is looking very similar to the ones used for our 1:24 retro F1 series

Posted Image

The chassiset fits the body

Posted Image

Thinking about making some suspesion details - trial fit with kit parts

Posted Image

Rear uprights in 1,5mm brass

Posted Image

Finished uprights mounted with other parts made from 1mm brass tube. The hole in the upright i bigger thatn the axels for clearance. The real axle bearings are in the motor bracket

Posted Image

Ezhausts will pass below the the rear cover and conceal much of the gears etc

Posted Image

Black parts is plastic kit details - i had to cut a bit in the body to make room for the suspension parts

Posted Image

the naked chassis

Posted Image

Scratchbuilt shock absorbers - springs are kit parts

Trial assembly - i still wait for the real tyres which is in the mail, but they will be much sismilar to the ones shown here. The chassis will be tested with the Scalex FF motor, as its very small ond allows the use of a full 3D driver figure.

The resting work on the body etc will be Stephen's job ;-)

DANG!

That's one on my list to build as well. Very nice work so far, Niels! Watching along, too.

Schweet! One can't have too much suspension detail!

You've really got these old F1's figured out, man. I love it.

As usual, thanks for sharing.
