Hello, i had a customer come in last night with some Classic/Vintage Cars and Parts. And they happened to be priced right, so i bought them. Well, i have already ID everything else, but this Revell chassis is giving me issues. I have looked on here, and LASCM and have not found any info. So i am stumped.

Any info would be great!

Thanks
Blake

Blake,
This is a pretty standard Revell chassis issued in 1966. it was issued in two wheelbases, one for standard sports cars and one for NASCAR cars. One could purchase it in the box you show as a basic chassis, one was offered with all the parts including the motor, gears, axles and all hardware but without wheels and tires, and one was offered almost all assembled with a fitted clear plastic body of a Ford GT roadster or a Genie-Ford MK10.
The later were inside a large clear-plastic box over an elaborate yellow-ish tray that had stamped tabs holding the wheels and axles in position.
None of the above is rare, even today.
The reason why these are not yet on the LASCM website is simply a matter of not having enough time... :)

But just for fun, below is a picture of a Revell prototype of a RTR Plymouth that was never issue but that is using the longer frame:

Dokk, You are very Kreskin like. I was going to ask you to post pics of this car again. I was thinking about this car the other day. When you first posted it a while ago it stuck in my mind for some reason. Not the most beautiful car " never " made but it is absolutely charming. I love the way the body still has some semi clear areas. Umm, where have I seen a rubber band atached to the guide before? Would look great with some Ulrich Stockers. Was this body ever made or is this a one off? There was no model kit or promo of this at the time to pull off of. Anyway, in my opinion it is super special.

Joe,
I am no magician... :laugh2:
I just spent a lot of paid time to study the subject, which makes me some kind of a semi-expert with still a lot to learn... :)
And I find new stuff every day! :shok:

No less than 4 NASCAR bodies showed up as accurate, 3-view line drawings in a 1967 Revell 4-page flyer. None were ever issued despite that molds were created. In the same catalog was a line drawing of a Lotus 38 Indy car body.
15 years ago, I was able to purchase some clear examples from a fellow in Bakersfield, then I ran across one of the Revell project engineers, then retired, and got this car and a ton of other prototype bodies, cars, chassis... and one of those Lotus bodies plus that of a Mirage-Olds, marked "sample" by the same hand.

And guess what, here it is, on top of that flyer and with a prototype chassis apparently designed for it:

I remember when I get that chassis a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, although it was in a closed bag, box missed.
I can identify that day at:

But the best source is here!!!! Remember: Dokktor is IN!!

It's in my TO-DO list to use it with a nice Revell body.

Probably next year.

Cheers.
