I certainly like your plate chassis idea. I may have to use it as the basis for a future project.

Niels,
"Fast Fred" Lorenzen is one of my all-time favorite drivers. You nailed that Fairlane perfectly! Did you put a three-letter decal on the dash about where the glove box would be that says "WHM"?
I have a couple AMT kits and some repopped Lexan Fairlane bodies from Vintage that I want to build one like this, too. I even have the decals.
Nice job. Keep up the good work! I love the wire screen you put on the grille. Nice touch!
