Anyone know how to adjust the voltage output on a Rivergate Bulldog RDC-70 power supply??
Right now the voltage measured at the braid is 14.7 volts.

What does the voltage setting in SRT program change?

Thank You!

The SRT has a couple of wires that would either use or remove the Jumper in your power supply, so you can run dual voltages or use it for a set of relays to totally switch to another system.

Best to allow someone that is familiar with the inside of a switcher to do the adjusting, they can kill you...

I'm familiar Rick with the external plug jumper on the RDC-90, this particular unit does NOT have that feature.
In reviewing the Rivergate website, there not even listing a RDC-70 so I'm guessing it's an older unit?

So the SRT portion doesn't change any voltage unless your jumping these wires inside the unit itself??
Thanks

The SRT just gives you a couple of wires so YOU can add a switch or relay. It doesn't do anything other than that.

Does your old unit have a little metal thing on the back attached with 2 screws? If it does, loosen the screws, take the tab off of one and then screw back down. It should drop the voltage?

Most units have a pot close to the final that you can adjust. Probably need an insulated screwdriver to get in there to it.

Is this a new addition? the last time I raced at REM the power was not near that high?

Thanks Rick,
Has nothing to do with REM power! That's all good!
It's for my friend that has an oval track, and they have been burning up motors left and right, and I finally got them to check there Voltage, and this is the result.

Another option for those units WITH a built in trim pot is to replace the internal pot with an EXTERNAL trim pot. Of course this unit can be place anywhere you like - behind the sales counter; in the race directors stqation or under the track. The right size pot will control voltage from 10vdc on up to max output.

Ever want to run low voltage caution laps????

Larry,
Can this be done with one trim pot? Or one for each lane??

Sorta like a rheostat? Connected after voltage output from power supply?
Thank You

The 14.7 volts might not be quite right. That is what by some might be called static voltage, Check the voltage with any car running, no matter what speed, to get a truer voltage.

Our 75 amp Bulldog has a little pot inside where you "can" adjust it......... Not sure if all are the same but it's not really designed to change it all the time so if you are going to change it often go to an external...

ok, got my friend to send me a picture of what the power supply looks like.

It works just fine and dandy, just need to lower it a bit to get more reliabilty to the motors and drivability to the cars.

How would you go about hooking up an external??

Newbiew here! so keep that in mind! :laugh2:

Rivergate has what might still be a valid phone number on the back. Maybe a try. I believe it's a 242 number that places the company just outside downtown close to the race track.

David, returned my email, I have the solution now to fix the problem.
It's thru the right hand fan for the potentiometer pot.

Still curious though as to what is actually being changed when using the SRT program? OR, nothing is changed unless its wired for it?

Thank you All!

As I told you before Brian, SRT provides a "switch" feature in the software and board but doesn't do anything else. It's up to the user to provide the relay and other power system and activate it with the key...............

I agree with Rick...the SRT changes nothing other than control a separate relay you provide - and you can also change the script of what the display voltage shows on the screen.

Changing the power for EACH lane can be done. On the Ogilvie oval at Lake Barrington raceway is the Koford (prototype for JK?) built unit that is essentially eight little controllers, one for each lane, that controls rental lane voltage.

Using the Bulldog internal pot is another separate modification that can be done.
