Last Saturday, the new 4-lane Chris Dadds track at Tyler Slot Cars got broken in proper! Below is the write up as posted on the Texas blog by Chris Tanner(Chris is one of the partners of TSC). Chris previously had a smaller 6-lane wooden track in his garage with magnetic braid and raced primarily 1/32 cars on it. Chris expanded his garage to accomodate the new track and added a 2nd AC unit for the driver's comfort. TSC had decided upon a different qualifying/race format than what we've run primarily but proved that there's more than one way to have fun; in the end, it's all the same... slap your car down with the others and wait for the power to come on! Without further adieu, here's Chris' write-up:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After months of planning, saving, ordering, cleaning and building, August 4th, 2012 saw Tyler Slot Cars 1st event on our new Chris Dadds built 105' 4 lane 1/24th scale track became a reality. The newly overhauled race shop was filled with racers from across the Northeast Texas Area. The tight but fast track showed locals and well as traveling racers who's the boss if they broke their concentration. The day started early with doors opening @ 9am. Racers practiced until noon when a great BBQ lunch was served and provided by Dave Berry of TSC's. Racers feasted on chopped beef, smoked and seasoned sausages and all the fixings.
After lunch the group held a short prayer session for Tyler Racer Pete Shick and his wife Latricia who were killed just days before the event. Racers paid respect in their own way during the day. Pete will be missed every time our group meets to race. Tyler Slot car's would like to dedicate this event to their honor.
Qualifying was held in two of the three classes raced on Saturday. Classes were. Retro Can-am, Refro F1, and GTR respectively. Retro Can-Am Qualifyiing was first. Qualifying for the A-Main was through heat race finishing order. No individual qualifying was held. You had to race for your place in the A or B Mains. We want to thank our volunteer corners marshalls - James Nokes and Virgil, Caleb and Austin Gonzalez.

That's a nice looking road course & it appears to be fun to run on! It reminds me of some of the English tracks I've seen in photos. :)

Congrats on the new race program and track. I spent some time in Tyler/Lindale in the early 80's. Roomy driver's station, nice.

Here's what I posted on our Texas blog this morning:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where are my manners?! A big GRATS to Chris on his Can-Am A-main win! And GRATS to Kyle for his Can-Am B-main win! Ditto for David Berry winning the F-1 race! GRATS again to Kyle for his GTR A-main win and GRATS to Lonny for his B-main win in GTR!

Just a quick note before dashing off to work. The track is FANTASTIC and MUCH faster than it looks! T2 is a decreasing radius turn that tightens up about 2/3 of the way through, right as you are wanting to put the power down... WICKED! After exiting T2 it's VERY fast all the way through T3, then T4, and up through the banked overhead finger; it can actually be punched if you're geared right and the car is handling well! There's a little kink just before the last "keyhole" turn but it's generally pretty fast too. The last turn LOOKS like it should be slower but you definitely don't creep through it; cars whip through on the inside yellow lane just fine. For whatever reason, I had to be a bit easy in T1 usually and that devil of a T2 bit me on exit a number of times. All in all, GREAT fun!

Great track. I bet that's a blast to race on.
