Chris, is this track in your home? I'd like to list the owner in the entry...

Greg, the track is in my garage, but it is a club track. Donations were made by David Berry, Moe Callison, Chris Bess and Chris Tanner.

Really neat track design, Chris. Who came up with it?

Michael Bloes in the LA area came up with the initial layout using some program that designed layouts for the snap-together plastic tracks. He had me adjust his drawing a bit and cut the pieces from MDF so he could put them together as a flat braided 6x12 two lane layout in his home. I used a picture of that layout just as an example of how I do a Real Racing Line on the slot path to get swing space between the outside lane and wall. It makes a tight little track faster, too.

Anyway... The Tyler boys liked the layout and thought it could be a good balance between a challenging road course and big track tuning course so we went through several design modifications and that's what we came up with. It looks a little like Michael's original idea but it's way different.

Chris,

Thanks for the detailed info. I kinda had an idea that design wasn't sketched on the back of a napkin after a few beers... LOL!

Over the whole process on my CAD system, there actually were more than a few beers involved. :-)

That is one of the coolest four-lane tracks I have seen yet!

That's 14' 2" by 25' 3" or so. The upper right hand turn (T3) is inset a bit from the overall length.

I said it previously somewhere else, but the track is faster than at first it looks. The first target times I was quoted was around 4.9 for a Flexi/GTR (Saleen, Corvette, Dodge Viper, etc.) and a 5.1 or so for a Retro Can-Am.

Once everyone had showed up for the race on the 4th, the fast guys pushed it all the way down to a 4.3x for the Flexi and 4.8x (I think) for the Retro Can-Am.

A track you have to drive, not a punch bowl... sweet! Great job!
