F1 was notable for the noise created by the large number of snapping drill blanks resulting in screams of agony and desperation. I don't think I have witnessed so many axles being snapped at a single meeting.

The A final resulted in there being only two finishers when three of the fastest drivers suffered car failure. Richard K was on course to win when he hit Andy Brown and destroyed his front axle. George Kimber won from the B final, with Dave Bradburn second from The A final and myself finishing third from the C final. Unfortunately I forgot my camera on the Sunday and have only a few photos on my phone.

The Tottenham race for older style Pro cars was one hell of a race and could have been won by Les Baily or Mike Harrison but Richy Kettleson just came through in the last minute when Les and Mike came off; they raced about a lap apart for the whole race trading places continuously.

I will give you more info on the other results when I can get more info. Bad memory... I must be getting old.

Thanks for the pics.

On the snapped drill blank axles, front, rear or both?

FWIW, I think we may eventually see a conversion to 1/8" axles in Retro F1, both front and rear.

What's George Kimber holding in that photo? Some sort of belt-driven, motorized controller? LOL.

I snapped a rear when I was flipped up off a unsighted car into the bridge, due to the track call being late I was allowed five min to repair due to it not being my fault; we try to maintain a friendly race series.

Others were not so lucky as it was deemed their own fault for crashing and it was mainly front axles. Kimber is holding both his throttle and electronics box with Koford choke prior to plugging into the track. I was using your BB front wheels on all my cars, it allows me to use 3/32" piano wire front axles with ball bearings fitting tightly to the axle. Drill blanks are smoother and rounder so don't wear out alloy wheels but are easily snapped, where piano wire bends and can be straightened allowing you to finish the race.

Sorry for taking so long to get some results of the 2nd Round of the UKRRA Championships at RACEWAY81

Eighteen drivers attended over two days of competition,a great weekend of racing with a lot carnage in F1.
The weather was superb and we all enjoyed an evening BBQ .
Go to Raceway 81 for full results in Events.

Podium in four classes.

SALOON. FORMULA ONE

1. George Kimber. George Kimber
2. Andy Brown Searle . Dave Bradburn
3.Graeme Stephenson. Mike Kettleson

CAN AM. TOTTENHAM SPORTS
1. Graeme Stephenson Richard Kettleson
2. Richard Kettleson Les Bailey
3. Les Bailey Mike Harrison

Qualifying is one minute with total distance to count !
Saloon saw three drivers TQ with same distance, only separated by single fastest lap.
Great drive by Andy to take 2nd in Saloon .

FORMULA ONE was a crash fest with Richard , Graeme & Les all leading only to have huge shunts
leaving George winning from B Final.

CAN AM was dominated by the A Final with Graeme coming out ahead of Richard and Les taking Third
from George by 2 feet.

TOTTENHAM Three drivers were within a lap going in to last segment and Richard took the lead and
victory from Les with Mike Harrison taking his first podium of meeting with Mark Wattam 4th from George.

George leads overall standings after two rounds from Richard with Mike Harrison 3rd.

Final round takes place at Rockingham ,home of Wellingborough in November.

I had one on the jig ready to build, but decided that I didn't want to make the huge investment in tires.

I have found some more photos of this event , It should have been The UKRRA round 2 raceway 81, I don't know how I reported it as North London round 2 it must have been brain fade. Any way to change the post title?.
